I have to say... I was pleased by BB's comments

Mar 13, 2013, 9:14 AM

I've been saying that he will adapt to what we have, and I thought that was evident in his interview when he said they are constantly looking at the options. Do we play faster, slower, more sets, pressure more, etc...?

Those are all things that good coaches continually do to try and jumpstart things.

Like I said earlier... I am not going to touch recruiting b/c I have no knowledge of that, how it works, and I've never done it. I trust these guys to take care of that.

Just speaking basketball though, I thought BB was honest and I thought the work he puts in and the frustration he feels showed. All good things, b/c he wants this group to be successful more than anyone, and he is coaching hard to help them.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

I did not like the part about nothing to play for.

Mar 13, 2013, 9:30 AM

I understand saying the team did not think there was anything to play. But when he makes comment about 11 or 12 like it doesn't matter. That bothers me he is paid to get his team ready to play ALL games. If he does not think they are important I know the team won't.

I think he was just being honest

Mar 13, 2013, 9:32 AM

it's late in the season...been a hard season with one loss after another...last regular season game...does it really matter if you're 10th or 11th in a lost season...not really but the team continued to fight. That shows that the team has bought into his coaching.

If it did not matter why not just rest all the starters

Mar 13, 2013, 9:35 AM

Like the NFL does before playoffs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

his point was the kids could have folded but they didn't

Mar 13, 2013, 9:38 AM

and that showed a growth in their maturity.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't see that at all

Mar 13, 2013, 9:38 AM [ in reply to I did not like the part about nothing to play for. ]

He was arguing that this team HASN'T quit, despite winning against Miami having no bearing on where we are in the tourney.

At no time did I sense he was not getting our guys ready to play. Instead, I got the opposite from what he was saying.

I did too....I think he was saying the kids came ready

Mar 13, 2013, 9:39 AM

to play even though it's been a tough year.

Any kid you've got to motivate to get him to play is a kid you don't want on your team! Take NC State for instance. More talent than just about anyone and should have won the league going away but a team full of ego-centric head cases. I'd much rather have our guys. At least you know the effort will always be there.

Let's discuss Rad's post-season decisions ad nauseum...

Mar 13, 2013, 10:56 AM

...on Friday.

Let's get some honest debate on the board about where Clemson needs to start looking for a men's head basketball coach.

Yeah...I'm going to be flamed and called a coot, but I don't care. My low expectations for the Clemson basketball team can only go so low.

Brownell's season this year is the equivalent of TB's loss to Wake that resulted in Dabo taking over the football team.

It is time to clean house in the basketball offices STARTING FRIDAY MORNING!!!

That's absurd. Brownell is going nowhere and rightfully so.

Mar 13, 2013, 11:43 AM

Only ignorant folks think there is any possibility whatsoever that Clemson will be looking for a head basketball coach.

P.S. Sorry if the word "ignorant" is too strong for you. I couldn't think of a better one-word description for lacking knowledge and perspective.

P.S.S. The situation is nothing like TB. Nothing at all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're VERY kind to Brownell........

Mar 13, 2013, 2:03 PM

...that's nice.

Nope.

Just not ignorant to the reality of the situation.

I am kinda hoping it is equivalent to Dabo's 3rd full year when he went 6-7 in football. And we all know what is happening now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Guaranteed........

Mar 13, 2013, 5:06 PM

There's no doubt iTiger would have wanted to fire Dabo immediately following the USF loss..and the WVU loss too for that matter. Some guys are incapable of seeing the forest for the tress. Yours is an excellent example.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed. BB is in touch with the state of the program and he

Mar 13, 2013, 11:49 AM

will take steps to improve it. Now whether or not he can do enough next year to buy another year, that remains to be seen. But personally, I believe he can and will.

By the way, changing subjects, can you please explain the details behind the reversal of your decision to not post here anymore if Clemson wasn't in the Big12 by end/2012? You stated something the other day to the effect that I missed something in regards to this, but when I asked you to explain you did not. So seriously, what did I miss? In your opinion, have you been a man of your word or not?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL. Dang dude, how many scoks do you have?***
