I have the confuse when it comes to the offense....

Nov 1, 2014, 12:41 PM

We lost one of if not the best QB in school history and without question the best WR in school history. Both were 3 year starters with great chemistry, almost unheard of in college today to get a QB and WR for 3 years at the same time.

We also lost a WR that could have been the #1 guy on many teams across the country.

We lost a 1,000 yard rusher.

Didja think we was gonna be the same without all them fellers this year?

No, it's just now blurry as to whether those players were responsible for the offensive production or if it was the Chad's innovative system that's no longer really innovative.

Probably a little bit of both. But when you have a system offense like this people don't expect it to be one of the worst in the country (and it is) no matter WHO you lose.

I don't think scheme matters nearly as much

As some people want to believe....

We had a lot of things happen for us altogether at the right time. Chad's "scheme" worked because he started it at Clemson when he had a top QB and the best WR in the country, not to mention a better than average rushing attack with AE and then last year with Hot Rod.

I'm not saying our players now are garbage, they are incredibly talented. But Stoudt isn't Tajh Boyd. Mike Williams isn't Sammy Watkins, and at least for right now there's no AE in the backfield.

I don't care how good the backups or recruits are at any school. You put all those things together at once (QB, WR, RB, scheme), then take away 3 of those 4, you're going to have growing pains.

And with all that said, this doesn't begin to account for all of the injuries we've suffered and players that have been dismissed this year.

If you would have told me at the beginning of the year that a team (imagine for a second it's just a team, not Clemson that we all love) is going to lose the best QB and WR who had been 3 year starters, the 2nd best WR, and a 1,000 yard rusher, then oh by the way loses the QB who could have possibly started this year (Kelly), loses the current top WR (Peake), loses the starting QB during the season (Watson), and had the injuries and suspensions along the OL that we've had......and yet after 8 games are 6-2 with losses to 2 top ten teams? I think most fans in general would be thrilled. And yet that's exactly what's happened to our Tigers this year and it's almost like some of our fan base can't stand for it!
