Bama possibly rushing Tua bc LSU is a must win?

Nov 7, 2019, 12:42 PM

If Bama loses, they are out. Period. Their schedule cannot overcome the lack of division/conference title. Their only marquee wins would be a likely 7-5 aTm and 8-4 Auburn. At best their 3rd marquee win is a 7-5 Duke. DUKE! There is absolutely no way of justifying a 1 loss Bama making the CFP.

He was always expected to be back in time

Nov 7, 2019, 12:46 PM

At least that is my hot take from what I recall when he was first injured

This is the same injury and surgery as last year and he set out a full 2 weeks before he even started practicing. I say they have rushed him back. Will he be ready? I cannot tell you that until Saturday night. But I do know that they now believe that if they do not win it they are watching the playoffs from home for the first time. This is a year that will not afford them not winning their conference and making the playoffs. They were lucky 2 years ago with the committee looking at OSU's 2 losses. every conference champion will have 1 or less losses and a team that doesn't win their conference will be watching and wishing what could have been. That's why Tua plays if possible and if Bama loses Tua may do a Bosa and sit the rest of the year. That has been a rumor going on in central Alabama lately as well.

It will be really interesting to see how Tua looks in this game.

Word from Bama is that he is practicing and looking good.

I don't think they would say he is struggling to move.

Maybe they are being honest but three weeks is a quick recovery from a surgery.

Tua is not 100%, nobody heals that fast.

They can with antler spray. isn't that what Bama was accused of doing a few years back to recover from nagging injuries.

As of this morning it was a game time decision on whether he

would play. But, he has been practicing, apparently.

It wouldn't be a surprise if they rushed him back. They

played him hurt last year.

Alabama will drug him up, tell him he's OK only to 'discover' he needs surgery after the season.

I'm no doctor but...

Nov 7, 2019, 12:57 PM

I don't think there's any way he's 100% for this game.

Re: I'm no doctor but...

Nov 7, 2019, 3:00 PM

ESPN had some 'practice footage' from Tom Rinaldi yesterday where Tua was moving around. While the ESPN guy said he was looking 'good', to me he looked like Kelly Bryant before the CarrierDome disaster.

Supposedly Saban says Tua is mobile enough to roll out and move the pocket, and that's all they're wanting. I think my grandma could run him down. LSU is gonna be after him like nobody's business.

And they say the injury is NOT to his plant foot, so he should be able to throw with some force (but i question his accuracy: the landing foot affects follow through).

Anyway, it looks like he's playing. Between adrenaline and painkillers, he might make it to halftime before the ankle demands more attention.

Ten days to two weeks is the amount of time it takes for the body to heal and turn the corner. That being said, anyone who’s had surgery knows that’s just the beginning of getting back to normal. Tua will not be 100% no matter what. Can he play and make a difference? I think they can design plays for him that will maximize protecting him and allow him to control the offense to a degree. No doubt LSU will be doing their best to disrupt that dynamic. This will be interesting and is definitely a must win for Bama.

Re: Bama possibly rushing Tua bc LSU is a must win?

Nov 7, 2019, 1:22 PM

A lot of quick slants and let his receivers do most of the work. With LSU's suspect defense Bama will probably put a lot of points up with that kind of play. The question is can Bama's defense stop a LSU's offense that only Auburn has been able to slow down? I expect Saban has been watching The Auburn film and will do a lot of what Auburn did to slow down LSU's offense.

I have it on good authority that Saban is above

i still wouldn't bet on a one loss alabama not making the cfp.in this case you are making the mistake of thinking logically and rationally, while those making the decisions are too influenced politically and financially.

I think an Alabama loss puts them out because
it is a home game. If it were at LSU and Tua not 100%
they might could get some sympathy.

It will be too much pressure for Tua

Nov 7, 2019, 2:23 PM

Either he doesn’t play or he will cave u under the pressure...

Prediction:

Their fate falls on #10 Mac Jones .. backup QB

Re: It will be too much pressure for Tua

I haven't followed Bama that closely. Does Tua's back up have any real game playing time? From what I've heard it's not even close to Chase Brice has with us as Saban leaves his starters in way too long.

Re: It will be too much pressure for Tua

Nov 7, 2019, 2:50 PM

Mac Jones has only had garbage snaps except for the Arkansas game.

In that game, however, the defense overwhelmed the Piggies' offense with multiple early turnovers. The Tide was up 17-0 after 1 qtr. and after all, they're the Piggies, so no comeback was gonna happen. So no real test for Mac.

They say he did look real good in the spring game throwing the ball, so he is not one-dimensional...just unproven.

Didn't we do something similar with Deshaun against

Nov 7, 2019, 3:03 PM

South Carolina? Just sayin.

Re: Didn't we do something similar with Deshaun against

Nov 7, 2019, 4:24 PM

Yes and he was amazing. Tua isn’t Deshaun. Maybe he can pull it off or maybe his back up can do it. But if they lose, I don’t want to hear any excuses because yes Deshaun did do it.

Re: Bama possibly rushing Tua bc LSU is a must win?

Nov 7, 2019, 3:36 PM

Last year when TL16 was injured in the SU game, if CLEMSON had lost that game, there is no way that we would have been in the CFP.

The same should apply to Bama IMO. If Tua cannot play in the LSU game, or gets injured further during that game, and they lose, then they should be excluded from the CFP similar to what the CFP Committee would have done to us.

That being said - the committee will treat Bama like their golden child and give them a pass. Only to Bama. And the committee will ensure that Bama plays the weakest team in the first round of the CFP and make CLEMSON play LSU (or the other SEC team that gets into the CFP).

Re: Bama possibly rushing Tua bc LSU is a must win?

Nov 7, 2019, 4:14 PM

Bama can still get in with a loss but they'll need help. They wouldn't get in over undefeated Clemson, Ohio st, SEC winner, or if Oregon or Utah win out.
