Georgia standout receiver tears ACL

Tough news to report. Georgia standout receiver George Pickens suffered a torn ACL injury during Tuesday's practice. “The good news is that the MRI showed it to be an isolated injury with no other structures involved,” UGA head coach Kirby Smart said in a statement. “George is a hard worker. Hate it for him. I was excited to see him test our DBs and for the DBs to have a chance to prove themselves against him. UGA recruits as well as anybody, so their shouldn’t be much of a drop off, but just hate to see ACL injuries for any player.

Go Tigers!

Yep, prayers for this talented young man.

Kirby might find a way to stitch him up and playing in our September game. The sec teams could careless about any atheletes interests unless it helps them.

This was their best receiver by far! It won’t help them against the best in game 1.

Hopefully we can shut down their run game & stay healthy! It should be a great measuring stick for both teams.

I look for a low scoring event for the Dawgs. I’m looking for most of the points coming from the best team as Justin Ross & crew kick butt!

Isn't going to help 'em.

If you watch the Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati the Bearcats were able to stuff the UGA run game. JT Daniels did deal it around to a variety of receivers but his big bailout time and again was Pickens - 7 catches for 135 yards and a TD. (The next-leading receiver was Kenny McIntosh, who is a RB, who got 5 catches...for all of 43 yards.)

The Bearcats absolutely stuffed Zeus White; held him to just 39 yards on 11 rushes and the Dawgs overall to just 45 yards of rushing.

Minus Pickens and his ability to win those moonballs with those 1-on-1's you'd best believe Venables is going to make Kirby earn every yard on the ground.

How did we stuff Ohio States run game? NOT too good!!! Their backup ran all over us. Hopefully our Dline doesn't get pushed around.

Hate to hear he is injured and hope he is back right after the first game of the season. But really, hope he regains all his skills and gets drafted by the Miami Dolphins when he leaves Georgia.

Hate it for this young man. Prayers up....***

I feel really bad for Pickens

Hate to hear that but it's football. My bet is he will be playing for our game...Kirby and SEC schools could care less about their athletes. Of course, it won't matter for them, they will be on probation by then anyway and will be playing for notta

Could care less? Wouldn't that mean that they care for them, at least some? I think you mean "couldn't care less."

"Kirby and SEC could not care less about their athletes." There, I fixed it for you.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Even simpler....

Mar 25, 2021, 8:02 AM

... they just don't care.

See how easy that was!

still make it back for the season. Also, Georgia, since they almost always win the Recruiting National Championship in their own mind, has plenty of talent to back him up.
