So right about the time I get used to making my coffee

Jan 13, 2022, 9:00 AM

with a French press, I see this @#$R@#$ study comes out. Now I'm not normally a knee-jerk reactionary to every study that pops up (and most studies say coffee in moderation is great for you), but now that I'm closer to 50 than 40, I find myself giving these things a little more gravity. CharlestonTiger15 tell me what to do.

Our Mr. Coffee auto-drip may be on the fritz and I'm looking at a ChemEx. My main concern is that I don't want to spend ten minutes of my weekday morning tending a coffee maker.

It has a scale so I can get that perfect 1:17 ratio of coffee to water by weight.

42 grams coffee to about 700 grams of water, or usually I'll just go with 60 grams coffee to 1L water.

put water in electric tea kettle (which I have on an alexa switch), so it's just below boiling when I wake.

run it though a chemex with bleach-free paper and voila! a bomb-azzz cup that won't kill me like french press.

And because I feel like hijacking this thread instead of starting a new one, what in the name of all things holy was that megathread yesterday. I opened it and read the OP and noped out of here real quick.
