I guess the acc wasn't

The juggernaut that everybody thought they were. 1 out of 9 makes it past the first week. So can't use the excuse that Clemson played in the toughest conference for the reason we didn't make the big dance. Thanks drad for bring back Brownell. We got this next year.

Clemson

It was a very good league that didn't have great teams

UNC is really the only ACC team with a national title caliber roster. You can see it when they actually play together, but they get out of synch really easily, especially when Berry doesn't play well.

Louisville was a deserved 2-3 seed that ran into a really hot Michigan team that is coming together at the right time. Just a bad match up there.

Duke and ND were too reliant on shooting percentage to make a deep run. Both lost to teams that could clamp down on them defensively. And not to defend Duke, but how does a 2 seed wind up playing what is essentially a road game in round 2?

UVa lost it's best defender for the tourney so it's hard to penalize them for their performance against Florida but they were probably seeded appropriately and by the seeds should have been expected to lose where they did.

FSU hadn't been playing at the level they were seeded for over a month and it was no surprise they were bounced in round 2 when teams have less time to prepare and coaching is a bigger factor. In addition the Xavier team they were paired against was a top 10 team prior to injuries early in the season, but got healthy right before the tournament so they were playing an evenly matched opponent.

Va Tech and Miami lost in 8/9 games so no real shock there. Va Tech drew a Wisconsin team that went on to take out Nova, and was probably under seeded due to the B1G being under appreciated this year.

Wake wasn't really a tourney worthy team, but they barely got in and lost a game nobody should have been surprised they lost.

In reality, Duke, Louisville, and FSU were all upsets. The FSU loss was pretty easy to see coming, Hamilton isn't a good tourney coach and they weren't playing like a #3 seed going in. The Duke upset was probably the worst looking one as South Carolina wasn't really respected as a 7 seed. Louisville was certainly an upset but anyone who follows college basketball knew that Michigan has been hot for over a month now and that was going to be a tough draw. Other than that, the ACC fared pretty much as expected by seed. It's not that the conference was bad this year, it's just that it didn't have great teams. A lot of depth, but not multiple elite programs.
