Jase has a lovely family, dawned in their brightest yuppy attire. too bad A&E producers required he and his brothers to drop the yuppie attire and grow beards for the show

Most people do not know that Phil graduated college and was a star quarterback on the football team. It was contacts he made during this time that helped to launch his duck call business.
Willie has a lovely family too, and like his brother Jase, loves the beach and the country club.
These guys are no dummies, in fact they are marketing geniuses. They know their fan and consumer base, and dressed the part to grow a fortune of over 400 million dollars. The joke is on us for buying it and their cheaply made plastic crap. But hey, it is a show about family values, not a marketing ploy.

that Larry The Cable Guy isn't really a cable tv technician, and Abdullah The Butcher (The Madman From The Sudan) is really Larry Shreve from Windsor, Ontario, and he owns a ribs/Chinese restaurant (seriously) in Atlanta?

A&E knows how to play to the base. The suspension thing was a stroke of genius. Fire up the base for a big Christmas merchandise push. I call it the Chick Fil A factor.

even worked as free advertising. I saw something on TMZ where they didn't even know what Cracker Barrel was before that whole controversy. I would have to imagine many outside the south thought the same thing.

smiling tiger, you are missing the point. Agree that reality TV is skewed for ratings, especially A&E with storage wars and now duck Dynasty.
But the appeal of Duck Dynasty is that it portrays a hard working blue collar family that become millionaires and epitomize the american dream. The reality is the Robertson brothers were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and seem to take to country club life a lot more than they do sitting behind a duck blind. They are mocking the very people that are making them rich with their overalls and beards.

From what I've read, the older boys (Willie and Jase) were born LONG before Phil made his fortune. In fact, Miss Kay threw him out when the boys were very young. He was a drunk, apparently. I'm not sure about Jep.
And for what it's worth, why do you care so much? It's a harmless show with good messages about family and morals. It's TV, bro. Relax.

I don't use thumbs down. I am willing to tell you or anyone else when I disagree with them. I haven't used thumbs down in over 2-3 years. I used it when it first started, but then realized it was BS, and it meant avoiding taking a stand. My thumbs down will be in posting a response. You and Balm need to quit worrying about thumbs down and if you like worrying about it, you need to accuse someone else.

if more Christians would act as Jesus instructed, I would not give them such a hard time. In fact I think it is a beautiful way to live your life. Unfortunately the christian faith has been overrun with ghey bashers, racists, and free market capitalists.

I guess they hatched this whole plan decades ago huh? Phil is who he is and I find the irony of you accepting a journalist with an agenda's version of the Robertson family while criticizing people for accepting the show at face value pretty TBALmesque...par for the course to play off your lovely pictures.
I duck hunt and hunt lots of other things and look quite different on my family vacations to the beach in the summer than in the middle of a hunting season.
BTW...I really don't care for the show and have only seen an episode or two. I do have issues with all the "new" duck hunters who don't know a Mallard from a coot, but to say that Phil and his family are just some yuppies that grew beards for a reality show is laughable and easily disproved with the slightest bit of research.
Read Phil's book Happy, Happy, Happy (written before the show) and you may get a better understanding about the things you are talking about.

These people get way too much air time, both positive and negative.
I remember reading this news story on the same day the raid at Justin Beiber's house was dominating headlines. Just like the Robertsons, we can't seem to move our attention away from the sensational, toward what's really going on in the world. I wonder... how many of you even heard about this?
