So, Sunday I noticed a tire that was about to go bewm.

May 16, 2022, 12:26 PM

Front tires were looking rough, and I knew they were on their last leg but figured I had a good 5K more miles. But I had been evidently checking front driver's side, because Sunday I looked at the front passenger side and it was BAD, maypop status. Ok, so then looked at the back tires. Back driver side was bad, but not too bad, and better than front, but still god for maybe 10K miles or so. But PASSENGER side, well, it was done. YIL - Check ALL tires.

So go today to get 4 new tires. No Michelins to be found. Could do two Michelins, but not 4. So got a step down tire. Still $119 a tire. KFC. Ok, so a set of not Michelins at the price of my last set of Michelins. Great. Then also knew front brakes were marginal and back was bad. Yep, they found it. So 4 new brake pads. Looking at 4 digits now.

Now this comes after just replacing the TV the youngest broke.

Lovely.

I need to replace front brakes on the truck

and at least one tire on the car.

I'll just wait until I'm having a really good month financially and all of it will break simultaneously

Ain't nuthin getting cheaper.

The Michelins I wanted, were like $150 each. I paid $110-$115 for them in 2018. They lasted almost 110K miles.

Paying to have your brakes repaired is like paying to have the tube in a bike tire replaced.

I distinctly remember discussing replacing brake pads on

May 16, 2022, 1:25 PM

the old 4Runner and the general Jounge consensus was "Why would Greenr, not a mechanic, trust a youtube video with his family's lives instead of just paying a professional to replace those brake pads?"

Well, you will all be happy to know, I replaced the brake pads a long time ago and THEN sold the car.

is a good way to lose a couple of those pesky little fingers on that hand. Especially with mulching blades, which usually means 4 blades. 2x4 wedge and banging the wrench with a hammer is my go-to method...

I've got a breaker bar from a brake job I did on an RX330

May 16, 2022, 3:47 PM

so that's nice. The mower probably came with a tool to hold the blade in place but I lost in a long time ago.

Ended up with Sumitomo.....seem to have good reviews

May 16, 2022, 2:46 PM

But the brakes LAWD HAP MUSSY. Those things must have been horrible, because I about ate the windshield the first time I hit them. Took the entire ride home to adjust from evidently horrible brakes to super sensitive brakes.
