Some time to stew - more thoughts
Nov 19, 2014, 10:04 AM
|

1. Cole didn't have just "one bad game". He's yet to have a good game and that includes the Wake game in which Dabo awards him MVP. That was a joke. Or the leather helmet. Also a joke.
2. Dabo and Chad constantly pumps up Cole regardless of his play on the field, making excuses for him. Yet throws Sheussler under the bus.
3. Dabo and Chad created this problem when they named Stoudt the starter for UGA and even moreso when they continued naming him the starter after UGA. It was obvious to many of us that it was a dumb decision and we said as much. Dabo attacked the fans then and is attacking fans now. Dabo created this problem and continues to make it worse by running Stoudt onto the field. I feel bad for the kid and what Dabo is doing to him. He's set up for failure every time he takes the field against a good team.
4. I also feel bad for defense who knowingly have to play their best every week to compensate for our ineptness at the QB position.
5. I am now wondering if Kelly's being upset is related to the favoritism shown to Cole regardless of ability. Kelly's response to it isn't justified but surely begs the question of cause. Another bad situation possibly created by this coaching staff.
6. Stoudt does not have what it takes to win against good teams. He doesn't have what it takes to beat Louisville, Wake, BC and 'Cuse. Fortunately our defense did. Dabo has been shoving Stoudt's abilities down our throat and it's getting old. The project has failed miserably.
7. Any coach with any common sense or desire to win would have long given another QB a chance before now. Even after the performance last saturday, coupled with his ineptness prior, Dabo still continues to hitch his wagon to Stoudt and this is mind boggling to put it lightly.
8. Dabo's insistence on calling out fans for being upset with his dumb decisions is getting old quick.
9. If Watson can not go again this season we are staring down an 8-4 record and a trip to the Belk in which we will likely lose unless another QB is given a shot and succeeds.
10. I'd rather see us run the water boy out at QB and lose than to continue running the same lameduck QB onto the field every week and lose without even trying to fix the problem. This does no one any good. Not the coaches, not the fans, not the team and certainly not Cole Stoudt.

It's a ### shame that we have a NC D and the O is so pitiful. Not only does Cole get the blame but CM is doing a #### poor job also.

I'm not ready to say Chad is doing a poor job yet. There's only so much you can do with a talentless hack. The best race car driver in the world isn't going to win the Daytona 500 in a Yugo. We've seen the intensity and speed of his offense for years under Tajh, and when DW comes in, it immediately picks back up - so, I think Chad is doing his job off the field. If he's pushing some agenda to keep Stoudt on the field, then go ahead and fire away - but I think his hands are tied in that matter. Point is, Cole doesn't fit into Chad's gameplan. Add to it the injuries and our sieve of an O-Line and it creates all kinds of problems, but a lot of that can't fall on Chad.

Well man you have to keep coaching and try different things that will work under the circumstances. We still have playmakers that can make up for bad QB play. It's easier said than done I know but dang CM keeps running the same plays that don't work over and over.

Yea, but the kid can't really run and he sure as h3ll can't throw. His vision is fixed like his spine is fused and his passes are so slow, it's like a giant advertisement for interceptions. Cole really brings nothing to the table. If you can't run him and he can't pass it (and someone - not sure who, but someone is dead set on him playing every snap this year), there really isn't much of a gameplan you can devise around him. Our RB game is just too inexperienced to give us any other options. Cole is the center spoke in Chad's machine, and unfortunately, that spoke is bent.

Cole has obvious physical limitations but the loss of Kelly hurt more than anything....they didn't have a bridge from Boyd to Watson.

We didn't need one. Watson should have been starting from get go. The only possible reason Stoudt could have beat out Watson or Kelly is due to seniority and favoritism. That is glaringly obvious and possibly explains the subsequent actions and dismissal of Kelly.
"loyalty" is a horrible excuse in deciding who starts. He's being paid 3.5 mil to win ball games not be loyal or reward loyalty to seniors.
This entire situation mirrors DJ Howard and his being named starter.

True, but Daboo tried to tell us Watson was less than Cole.

At the beginning of the season, we were told all about the NFL caliber talent we had in Cole and how he was our starter and leader. I think Daboo lied to the fanbase to help pump Cole's confidence and the confidence of the team in Cole.
I think he and Chad are being confronted with some harsh realities this year-our system IS dependent on the talent on the field. They can't speak something into reality. They haven't had to deal with this level of injury and adversity on offense with their recruits only. Lots of gut checking going on right now, and I think our entire staff will come out of this better, more mature coaches.

I don't think it really matters at this point when it come to the QB situation. Did Cole play terrible? Yes. Do I actually think Nick is a better QB? probably not.
Do I think Dabo should have waited to name a starter, especially after Cole's play? Probably.
Was he really going to name anyjuan other than Cole on Senior Day? No.
You can be mad at Dabo all you want... but it doesn't matter.
I don't really care that Cole started the year. What I'm more amazed at is that a true frosh QB that did not even win the job is so central to our run game that when he goes down we have nothing.

sooo poorly. Cole has had several years under Chad's system and Chad has had to dumb down his play calling ( his words) . If this is the case then he should have never started. Like those before have said I'm beginning to wonder if Chad K's frustration wasn't justified ?

I, for one, (if this is the case) wouldn't have been able to keep quiet, would have said my piece, dropped the mic and headed out the door. I'd certainly rather start for a junior college with a chance at another D1 than to sit on the sideline watching a QB start over me that wouldn't be starting at Incarnate Word.

WHY DON'T YOU GO TO THE HORSE'S MOUTH INSTEAD OF GETTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA HIDING BEHIND A HANDLE THAT IS NOT YOUR NAME.I AM SURE DABO WILL BE GLAD TO TALK TO YOU FACE TO FACE.I DON'T BELIEVE IN DEGRADING ANY PLAYER BECAUSE HE IS NOT AN ALL AMERICAN.NO ONE KNOWS ANY BETTER THAN COLE THAT HE HAS NOT PLAYED WELL,BUT HE IS STILL TRYING.HOW WOULD YOU LIKE SOMEONE PUTTING YOUR NAME OUT TO THE PUBLIC,BECAUSE YOU SCREWED UP IN YOUR JOB?

1. Because I'm a fan and this is a fan message board 2. Anyone who tries to enter Dabo's office without an invitation would be arrested. Why don't you try giving it a shot. 3. I'm not degrading a player, I am degrading coach's decision according the harsh realities of a players ability. Dabo is doing more damage to Cole by putting him in this situation than any sports fan could generate.

1. He played "OK" in those other games. Yes, getting the MVP against Wake was a joke though. 2. I haven't paid full attention - when did they throw NS under the bus? 3. Disagree here. Even if DW had outplayed CS in practice - they couldn't trot a true freshman out there AT Georgia. They would have to assume CSs maturity would trump DWs ability in that situation. CS played well in the first half... 4. Yes, the D has been screwed by the O. 5. I think you're right here. I'm sure CK felt he was better than CS at that point. Players at practice were aware of the talent gap between CS and DW (and possibly CK). Even at the UGA game, you could see the extra excitement by the O players when DW came in. 7. I didn't see anything to make me think NS is any better than CS. 9. Yes, we will likely lose to SC without DW. Our O can't score at all. We'd need a game similar to the Louisville game to beat SC. 10. I think NS will get significant playing time against GState.

1. He didn't play "OK" in any games. He should have at least 7 more interceptions. 2. They mention Nick's "missing protections" every chance that they get. Throughout the season they have only managed to harp on Cole's "winning games". 3. Completely disagree. Watson was said to be calm and collected well before the season and has been in some big time games even in high school. Many true frosh QB's have started their first game and done well. This is a copout IMO. 4. Agreed. 5. Agreed. 7. He didn't play long enough to see. But it's idiocy not give him a shot. Whitehurst was given a shot and the rest is history. 9. Agreed. 10. He should be starting.

Let's see- in almost 2 months Watson has...
Nov 19, 2014, 11:43 AM
|
|
played 4 series, rushed for 51 yards, he is 6 of 12 passing with 1 interception for 16 yards, has broken a finger, LCL strain and a bruised knee
Whatever they comes up with to beat the Gamecocks in 10 days probably needs to focus on something other than the QB because nothing indicates the ones who can play will win the game and nothing indicates if Watson does plays he will make it past the 1st quarter.
I just hope they come up with something

I can't wait for Cole to throw 250 and 3 TD's vs Georgia St. and Dabo start a heisman campaign.

If the Stoudt that played in the first half of UGA game
Nov 19, 2014, 12:49 PM
|
|
Would come back then I think we wouldn't be as bad without Watson. He played really well in the first half and should of put more points on the board bc I remember a few receivers dropping easy catches. I think when Watson was named the starter after FSU, that really messed with Stoudts confidence and for some reason he hasn't been able to get that confidence back. I don't know why most think Schuessler its the answer to our problems. I may get flamed for this but I think the coaches Should continue to start Stoudt and if he plays poorly then put Schuessler in. I don't think Stoudt deserves another chance
