Not that the folks in the SEC care a lick, but this attempt

monopolizing college football within one conference is terrible for the sport in total. You think fans of other schools won't get weary of the whole game? If that happens it could erode interest on a national level that could present collateral damage for the SEC and ESPN.

I have hated the SEC all my life. They are the epitome of arrogant and simply do NOT care about anything but power.
I truly believe college football is dying.

This is mainly in response to the NIL decision. You can believe what you want, but donor money at places like Clemson is not going to be what it used to be. The NIL and “other things” have turned some away, and a lot of people last year realized they can save a butt load of money and have less hassle by not going to games. In return, places like Clemson will have no choice but to offset lost ticket/ donor revenue with t.v. money.
You’d be crazy to think the higher ups at Clemson aren’t having conversations with other admin. folks at different conferences/universities. We’ll never know about it unless something is about to be finalized

What do you mean “Clemson will have no choice”?

Clemson has any choice. We can fold athletics tomorrow if we wanted. Aside from the publicity it gives us, we would be fine without it as an academic institution. Clemson isn’t obligated to follow whatever college athletics is becoming straight into the abyss.

Ever since Clemson has been in the National title conversation our number of applications have gone WAAAAAY up. The success of the football program has po$itivley affected every area of the school’s finances. They absolutely will not fold the football program and if joining a super conference is what it takes then Clemson will do it. I don’t like it. I hate all of what has happened to our Society since Social Media took over everything (I’m only 35).

America is the only country in the world that has big time college athletics. It is the oddity. It is not a guarantee.
Allowing players to transfer and play immediately.
Creating a “portal” to facilitate the movement of players.
Allowing players to make money off of their playing for your program, resulting in up to seven figure salaries for amateur athletes.
Transitioning to a 12 team playoff.
And now one conference with a completely unnecessary power grab.
All while the cost to attend every game is going up, and the price for a playoff game is four figures.
The elasticity of fan interest can only go so far.

ESPN has really hitched their wagon to the SEC
I think a lot of people around the country are sick of their arrogance

I really think there are only two long term outcomes here:
1) A group of 40-ish schools break off from the NCAA and from their own NFL JR. with a single TV revenue deal.
or
2) The SEC/ESPN monopoly and propaganda machine eventually slowly kills off all of schools and kills the sport in the same way college basketball is dying with huge declines in tv ratings and interest.
Once more people realize their team never has a chance to compete they'll stop following their team and college football in general and eventually SEC and ESPN ratings will be hurt and fall as well. Its a short term gain for the SEC, but potentially a long term death for everyone.

I can't imagine what it's going to be like for fans of the schools that were already also-rans in the SEC. Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and of course our feathered friends in Columbia can kiss any chance of competing for a conference title goodbye forever. Even historically good football schools like Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, and Texas A&M will have a tough time. LSU could go either way (I don't think they're a lock for being in the elite tier, especially with all the scandals lately), and although I'm sure Texas fans are ecstatic right now, their program hasn't been great lately and now they're throwing themselves on the altar of Alabama and Georgia in addition to Oklahoma.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

It's very close to killing it for me also, and if the ACC gets caught dragging their feet while the SEC plucks some of the best teams from other conferences in the attempt to make that conference into another empire for them, and the greedy ESECPN to get richer than they are now, I will be done with all college sports!!!
I will love Clemson until the day I'm taken to a crematorium, and incinerated into ashes, but I will be done with college sports before then if the SEC does what most believe they're about to do!!!!
