In fairness to FInebaum, at the beginning of the season he said, "I'm not sold on Clemson." Turns out he wasn't entirely wrong.

Finebaum hates Clemson because we gave Bama a 44-16 whipping in the 2019 CFP title game. That is the worst defeat Bama has had since Saban became their coach.

Finebaum's job is to promote the SEC. No secret there. And he does a very good job of it. But his opinion of Non-SEC schools should be taken with skepticism. After all, he is paid to promote the SEC.

largely because of how uninformed and clueless Clemson made him look after the National Championship games against Bama in Tampa and Santa Clara.
Frankly...he's been wrong about both Clemson and Georgia quite a bit over the last several years but for totally different reasons. Georgia failed to live up to his grandiose delusions while Clemson made him look like the unobjective homer he is by playing in four CFP championship games and winning two.

And even after that, it took a pick six for the mighty nutlickers to slide by us. With just an average performance by a D1 QB we win this game 14-3. With Trevor or Deshawn we win by 4 TDs.

Clemson is 4-2 all time over ND. Two were played in the 70's

Clemson lost a close game at Clemson with a late pass by Joe Montana 21-17. ND was the National Champs that year.
Two years later, Clemson beat ND in South Bend 16-10.
Notre Dame became a partial member of the ACC starting in 2015. ND just plays 4 games against ACC teams. Clemson beat ND 24-22 at Death Valley in 2015.
Clemson next played Notre Dame in 2018, and Clemson beat ND 30-3 in the first round of the 2018 CFP.
In 2020, Clemson lost to ND as Trevor Lawrence, the Clemson QB was out due to Covid 19. Clemson's back up QB played in South Bend and Clemson lost in overtime 47-40.
Several weeks later, Clemson played ND in the ACC Championship in Charlotte with Trevor Lawrence healthy. Clemson won that game 34-10.
All-time record, Clemson has won 4 games and ND has won two.
