Ms Wilbur (no pigs) says I need a new car (I drive a 2006 Acura TL with 230K miles on it. Runs like it did in 2006).
So I agreed with the stipulation a wanted something sporty like a Z4, Audi TT or A5 convertible, MB Cabriolet, BMW A series hardtop convertible, Porcshe Cayman/Boxter, Aston Martin or Ferrari (not a Lambrogini fan (yeah right)). No Corvette, Chrysler or Pontiac.
Anyhoo, want to start looking for something from '17 - '22.
What do I want for under $50K?
Sirrius answers expected.
Serious answers appreciated...

An occasional trip elsewhere. 10K mi per yr would push it.
Oh and we already have a 2018 RAM 1500 with a 5.7L V8 (Yes it has a Hemi)

but I also like to drive a car that isnt a loaner. Three engines & 2 turbos in less that 50k miles.
So, my new Bimmer is being built as we speak today. Hope to do performance center delivery next month.

please two masters. They've always been (after Porsche) the fun to drive German brand, so they've tried to keep performance, but they also now bow at the altar of the German Green Party, so they've had to go far over the bleeding edge line to eke out as much efficiency as they can while trying to still be sporty.
They're not so much low quality as they are flat out fragile now---it's ridiculous when you consider how bulletproof they were in the early aughts.

Con rod bearings on 1.5 years of the e46 M3’s and V10 M5/6’s, but those are old school high revving almost-race engines. To me it’s a miracle they make it to 75-100k before needing new bearings….I’d consider those “price you pay” maintenance items.
I know the turbo 6’s ate fuel pumps for a while, but that’s the whole bleeding edge thing I was talking about, needing insane high pressures to atomize the fuel enough to get a tiny bit more efficiently.
On the quality front, valve stem seals and valley gaskets have been horrible for a while, and BMW water pumps have been plastic-internal junk for a couple decades now.

The guy has to have a trust fund or something....he has the worst car buying process I've ever seen (hops in and if it gets him 2 miles down the road and back he says "seems good to me") and he turns it over to the weird mechanic guy to do everything from transmission repairs to emptying the ashtray.

If reliability is in your top 3 requirements, Jaguar's probably not the brand for you. In fact it's probably best to avoid European cars in general.

Bad boy had a stick and it was great fun to drive. Had NO problems with it engine or drivetrain-wise. Finally got rid of it when the interior and hoses on it began to dry rot. I kid you not.

Murcielago's Jag answer isn't a bad one, but I just had a buddy get his wife a newer F Type R with super low miles and he's already dropped almost $10k on repairs. It's just hard to trust Tata-owned cars at this point.

my son's LR3 are Ford ones. Luckily they're cheap, and known entities for failure on the message boards.
He called me before Christmas from his high school parking lot and said that every single light on the dash had come on---lots of unrelated systems so clearly electrical.
I told him to look in the back cubby where I keep small parts, and directed him on how to swap out the $13 Ford brake pedal switch in 5 minutes with the spare I keep back there. Voila, problem solved.

had. The Christmas tree of lights on the dash isn't a LR thing only, that's for sure. If the gas cap goes bad on my 4runner (and it does, about every 20K miles or so), it looks like a house fire up there. It turns off traction control, stability control, hill descent, lockers, and lights all the associated dash lights--even the ABS light. For a bad gas cap.
The (first year) tacked on safety features on my 2018 Tundra got out of alignment about 2 days into owning it and I was afraid to drive the thing. It turned on literally every dash light (even the ones that were supposed to stay on). That's another thing...why does Toyota have a dash light on all the time for something that's working? Makes zero sense. I understand they have since fixed that safety abortion mess to be a bit more "driver friendly."
Wait...what was I answering?
