When is Justified supposed to git gud?

Apr 10, 2014, 11:13 PM

Watched the first 3 episodes, and I like the main characters and all, but it's got the feel of a USA or TNT show. Not sure if I like that it's only semi-serialized, either. Does every episode focus on a different criminal/subject, or does it eventually come together?

are you in season 1?

Apr 10, 2014, 11:34 PM

just sit back.

the main players in season 1 will be with you for the long haul

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Season 1 is all about establishing the characters

Apr 10, 2014, 11:34 PM

it becomes MUCH more serialized in season 2 and every season from then on. They sprinkle some individual story lines (jackie nevada, we miss you) but mostly have serialized plots starting with season 2 and 3.

It did work on the level that I didn't know what was going on.

I enjoyed it. Sean Penn is a terrible person.***

Art is pretty conservative, as is the actor that portrays him

Apr 11, 2014, 10:44 AM [ in reply to too liberal for me. I want more conservative politics in my ]

Nick Searcy was doing a movie with Sean Penn, and when Penn found out he was a conservative, he sent Searcy an email, saying he wasn't sure he could work with him, knowing that.

Searcy said he told Penn he doesn’t turn down roles based on people’s politics because if he only worked with Republicans in Hollywood, he “wouldn’t work much at all.”

“He then wrote back with something even nastier,” Searcy continued, “so I finally ended up saying, ‘Congratulations on your Oscar — now do me a favor and shine it up real nice and stick it up your ### so you can see it when you wake up in the morning, because that’s where your head is.’”

He also told Penn at the time he wasn’t in a position to turn down offers based on politics because he didn’t have the luxury of “making $5 million every time I changed my mustache” for a new role.

So, did they make the movie or not?

Apr 11, 2014, 11:05 AM

Sean Penn is a fine example of somebody who needs his ### kicked.

Yes, it was “The Assassination of Richard Nixon.”

Apr 11, 2014, 11:12 AM

When Robert Duvall workd with Penn on the movie "Colors," Penn was famously getting into fights with photographers.

Duvall told him that he shouldn't think he was a badass because he duked it out with the paparazzi. He said if he went into a real bar somewhere and and got into a real fight, he was liable to run into a real badass.

git gud. Why should I play a game that isn't fun until 20 hours in? It's like "work and struggle through this for a great pay off," but the movie/show/game IS my payoff.

It doesn't take a whole season to get good. Sure, the first

season may get a bit repetitive with the formula or look for a small time guy while also having to visit Harlan, but it is needed to build things and goes away.

To be fair, it took me a whole season of Breaking Bad to actually get into it. By Season 2, I was hooked...but there's no way I could have every watched along episode by episode back when it started in '08.

Don't recall it taking that long to get good (or looking like a TNT or USA series).
