What makes Conn a better choice than Bates for co-DC? Edumacate me on the pros and cons other than Conn is Dabo's college buddy.

Conn is an organizer. He built a HS program from scratch to a powerhouse in Georgia's highest division. Organized building the stadium. He's managed a team and program.

Wes is a schematic guru, but he's never organized a team before. Conn is there to do that with him as he has those skills. With Bates you'd have had 2 guys who had never done that

ability to help a young up and comer in Goodwin in terms of game management and play calling. Probably felt Bates was closer to moving on than either Goodwin or Conn. Bates promotion and Dabo’s comments seemed to reflect that he was putting Bates in a position to receive an offer sooner than later. Obviously a lot sooner, pun intended.
