With 2 losses. One of the losses being to a team that we beat. Also, 4 of their 9 wins were by narrow margins.

They're also ranked ahead of a Tennessee team that beat team 40-13 at home. I think that's an unintended result of ranking teams like LSU too high. It doesn't make any sense to rank them ahead of Tennessee with the two having the same record and Tennessee killing them head to head. However, with Tennessee losing the way they just did you have to move them behind teams like Clemson and USC and it's hard to move those teams ahead of Tennessee while keeping Tennessee ahead of LSU because you'd have to have those teams jump LSU to do so.

I actually think the voters should've moved LSU back behind Clemson and USC and kept them behind Tennessee. I think you could use the logic of the Tennessee loss looking worse for LSU after Tennessee has been blown out in 2 of their past 3 games. It's a bit of logic that we sadly don't usually see from the voters.

I dont agree with LSU that high either. It seems they are there by default. Not many 10-1 or 9-2 teams to rank them behind - and there are several in PAC. I think there are 2 reasons there are so many highly ranked SEC teams this year. First, is that almost all the ranked matchups with Alabama were close games. TN-AL, AL-LSU, AL-Ole Miss. That way the loser doesnt drop much. Second, the schedule worked out that there were sometimes 8 ranked Sec teams. Remember when Kentucky and Arkansas were top 10 teams? There was just a revolving door so that when an sec team lost another would just come take their place. Now those “top 10” teams have 6 losses, but the damage was already done.
