I wish our coaches would stop responding to every little criticism.

I get it, this season has been harder on them than anyone. Plus, it’s human nature to be upset and offended.
And I’m glad our coaches believe in themselves and the program. But it seems like they are often on the defensive lately. Whether it’s Dabo defending the offense or his staff, or Elliott responding to critiques by broadcasters and fans, it’s seemingly something else every day.
Again, I realize it’s human nature to want to answer those questions. But perhaps they should just say that they are focused on themselves and on Clemson, and aren’t worried about what outside voices are saying.
Continuing to dignify these criticisms with long, detailed answers is only encouraging the critiques to continue.

I’m not suggesting that they stare blankly at the reporter.

I just don’t think the long, detailed, defensive answers are the best way to go about it.

I agree. They should respond in a straightforward manner with a short answer about what they are doing in practice, etc. Never make it about yourself. Unless the person is a Clemson-specific writer/reporter, they are looking for any sound bite to spin, especially on the personal level.

Could be but he's communicating with recruits on twitter with dm's so he really doesn't have to look at the public twitter.

opportunity to defend and positive defend and sell his school, program, players, etc., I can't help you.
Understand, it's a never ending part of his job. Take crap from anyone or no one? Nope, I'll take a good assistant like Elliott and pass o the wusses.

Yeah, and its gone viral already about Dabo getting anonymous mail in his mailbox... As well as saying when we win he gets 5 dm's from preacher, wife, fam etc but now he hears from everyone, or vice versa. And then DJ getting 2000 messages on stinking.
Not a good look and as posted, just fuels the flames. I'd keep it at coach speak and just say everyone is aware that we're having an off year. Blame it on a consistent message of youth, injuries, pick one and be consistent.
What you have now is some contradictory remarks on who/how plays are called. Players being distracted. Then it's poor execution... Which I hate because execution is what practice is for. Then you say players aren't taking good execution from practice to games. Not a good look and I'm afraid it's just more that can be used in recruiting.

It seems to be that the good times in recent years have actually made them a bit thin skinned. It’s rubbing off on the players as well as many of them have made prickly defensive remarks to the media the last few weeks.
They are so used to getting nothing but praise from our fanbase since the playoff run started that they seem to have forgotten how to handle criticism to. I hope they can buckle down and get through it rather than stay focused on it.

Follow your own advice and quit responding to every criticism levied against CBB and his players by posters on this board.

Dabo has earned the right to answer questions in the way he sees fit.
Let Dabo be Dabo.
We will be okay. The program is in good hands. We are not shrouded in scandal or drama.
Trust the process.

He’s the coach and should run the program as he sees fit. He doesn’t need my permission or anyone else’s.
But he isn’t immune from criticism. The expectations are going to be a lot higher for a guy who is one of the highest paid coaches in college football with loads of advantages almost no other coaches have.
The margin of error for him will naturally be less than for a coach at a mediocre program. That’s just how it works.

I wish ppl would quit over reacting … if this is going on in two years or doesn’t get better next year then sure , freak out. I’m tired of seeing the stupid A$$ questions from our own ppl about coaching like Dabo is gonna fire ppl mid season. Yes there is reason to be upset and it’s all warranted to a degree … but we also need to step back and realize where we are and where we came from. This coaching staff and Dabo specifically, have VERY much earned trust in making things right and turning this around to what everyone expects Clemson football to be… it’s sad when you have your own Clemson reporters asking some of these ridiculous questions like all of a sudden Dabo doesn’t know what he’s doin… did we build this program to where it is or did Dabo!?! We will be fine we may have missed on DJ unfortunately and that happens … better and more consistent qb play and cut down on the drops and we are undefeated … and to be honest we have been goin through the motions the last couple years hence the embarrassment in the playoffs so maybe a tough year and learning experience to ground this program for a year is exactly what we need. I just don’t get all the second guessing Dabo… again I get it and have even said things about TE questioning stuff but Dabo is not an idiot he will make the right moves and I believe the ppl that question that after the last 10 years are complete idiots … We will be back !

Since when has Dabo not responded to criticism and defended his players and coaching staff? He’s been doing that since day 1.
