He sat there with his wife and had to say LES MILES AND ED ORGERON WON TITLES THERE, I am a waaaaay better coach than those two combined yeah let’s go and show them what I can do with talent like that and how good of a coach I am. LES MILES AND ED O, you need to let that sink in, everyone who keeps questioning this hire needs to.

I don't blame Kelly for leaving. He wants a chance to win the national championship before he retires. He knows that was never going to happen at ND. Yes, he probably could have handled it better.

and LSU. It may eventually work in a Doc Hollywood kind of way but on the surface this is truly a fish out of water scenario. Brian Kelly is Yankee (and I don't mean that in a derogatory sense) - born and raised in Massachusetts, played college football in Massachusetts, spent all his coaching time in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana... By all indications the man has never spent any serious amount of time in the South and he is in for a BIG culture shock at LSU.
I can't imagine how some native Louisiana recruits are going to identify with him - everything from his accent to his particular way of phrasing things. Will be interesting to see how this whole thing works out...

I understand he wants a chance to win the CFP, but wonder if he really knows the culture shock that's coming. Can't blame him for trying--he's 60 and someone waved a contract and big money in his face.

That is where his”southern” assistants will come in to play. Nobody (or few) from ND joined him. He will have a lot of SEC coaching alums on staff.
Biggest challenge will be kissing booster a$$ as well as Finebaum’s.

I kind of thought that too Tabby, but I think his moral compass will fit right in with their culture. In that regard I don't think he and Ed O are that much different. The biggest difference is that you can almost tolerate an overt morally questionable guy with Ed O's demeanor whereas a discreet morally corrupt dude like Kelly is hard to stomach. Kind of hard to explain.
PS: Morally corrupt is probably too strong ..... maybe morally insensitive.
