I bet that a lot of you remember

The "slab five" who played for our Tigers as Barnes's first team at Clemson. Not a star player in that group but they sure played some great basketball. A real coach can often times win with what he has and Coach Barnes could do that.
I often have wondered how the Tigers would have done that year if Wright hadn't jumped ship.

I think 2 of those guys were Buckner who was great and the Spanish Thug, Iterbe...they did not like to lose...remember back in the 70's....Tree, Stan Rome, Colon Abraham, Skip Wise, Charlie Rogers, Van Gregg, Jimmy Howell, Bruce Harmon (I think) Wayne Croft...perfect chemistry and we lined up to get tickets to get in Littlejohn to see them...not hard to find a ticket anymore....

Well let's see!

He did beat Kentucky, Kansas State, ETSU, Vanderbilt(NCAA's); Georgia Tech, Alabama, and Mississippi(NIT); this year and only lost to UNC by two points at the Dean Dome, and took Oregon to overtime with a not really talented team that he inherited. I would say yes, he did a heck of a job!

They're close to an NCAA team

if Gray doesn't flunk out, let alone with Wright. Buck was a star by Clemson standards. Earned our only ACC rookie of the year that year
