Kingsbury number 1 choice for OU

Doubt he would leave being one of the best teams in the NFL now, but we should root for this, losing BV is very realistic for the first time. Would be devastating, and for the Tyler is still here crowd, OU is a dream job for him and would pay him 8+ million a year… so yeah he would jump if offered.

If he is driven by money at all, Arizona will never match

as a pro coach what Oklahoma would pay him to coach in college again. But, ultimately, I think he just uses it as leverage to get a nice pay bump from the Cardinals, and stays in the NFL.
This to me is the first real chance that we could well lose Coach Venables. But, given the way that he was shuffled to the side at the end of his time at Oklahoma, he may well tell them thanks, but no thanks.

I am not convinced BV would take that job

JMHO. Money isn’t everything…Brent has said as much. He didn’t exactly leave OU on “warm fuzzy” terms. And he likes to WIN. Not sure OU will be doing much of that once it is playing in a league with Bama, UGA and TAMU.
I could “sooner” (pun intended) see him taking a Big 12 job given the competitive landscape in that league, and if I am not mistaken, he already turned down his alma mater when they approached him.
Maybe I’m a fool, but I’m not worried.

His beef was with the Stoops family, he’s still close friends with Joe Castiglone and his wife (the AD).

Regardless of whether U of OK starts chasing Venables when Kingsbury says 'no' to replace L.Riley, we can all bet our boots that Clemson BoT will cough up a whole new level of $$$ to throw at BV.
This needs to be done BEFORE U of OK offers Kingsbury and before Kingsbury says no.

I agree. I think he is by far and away the best coach we have, and THE main reason for our success.

Our defense is what has won us 90% of these games the last 7 years, the offense just has to be respectable… this year is the case and point, even with a historically bad offense we are 9-3, close to 11-1… we lose BV, we are done unless we can pull Mary’s Freeman from ND and that is still a step down (big step down) from BV.
