I am looking to rent house that is walkable to campus

Dec 15, 2014, 8:30 PM

Hi, i am looking to rent a house that is walking distance to campus/stadium, for the ND game next year, for three nights, Thurs to Sunday morning. Most places i have seen for rent on vrbo or other sites are on the lake, a distance away or down in Anderson or a fair drive away.

Would love to rent a home that is within walking distance of campus and the stadium. 3 bedroom, 2 bath.

If you have place to rent or know of someone that rents, it would be much appreciated.

My email address is keithnd1@yahoo.com

If I still had my condo at Johnstone, I would let you stay there on E5.

Thought about renting a houseboat? Might have more options. I don't have a clue if that is a solution.

Not sure would tie up, or how that would work. Our group normally rents a house in South Bend for ND games, but this would be first time to clemson. Haven't really found any places online that a right in clemson area, and vicinity of the stadium.

Really would like to find somewhere that is walkable to stadium, bars and restaurants and avoid having to drive or taxi it from place to place.

As a current student living in a house within walking distance, I'd advise you that your chances of finding a place are very small. Mostly because there are no houses for 'daily rent' near campus. They are all rented by students that live their year round or local families and such. Best bet may be the condos near Esso. Maybe try to email someone there or post a sign saying you'll pay for someone's space for a few days. But even then just highly highly doubt it.

And hotels may already be booked for that weekend but that'd be another option. Not walkable but close and easy taxi

I actually saw some advertisements not too long ago from Uber where they were hiring drivers for the Clemson area! ;)

A 3 bedroom house within walking distance to DV is worth $1,000/night

Seems like a good way for some students to pay for spring break.

Haha, i dont know about 1,000 night. But we normally pay 1,500 to 2,000 total for 3 night football weekend.

You might be surprised...hotels will be asking upwards

You will be hard pressed to find what you're looking for less than $800/night.

I've heard of a family that rented out their house for the weekend in clemson. Dont know how you go about asking somebody for that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's no way in hell you could walk a house to campus

Dec 16, 2014, 10:46 AM

unless you live in a tent. Now...there's a great idea.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh. You are new to Clemson. You are welcome here.

Be aware that there has been some research done across the NCAA. Clemson is one of the most expensive places in all of the NCAA for lodging on game weekends. People travel hundreds of miles to attend Clemson football (I travel 280 miles round trip, but it is much longer for those on the coast).

I think you have a good idea in renting an apartment from a group of students. Perhaps you could take out an advertisement in the student newspaper stating how much you will pay and your criteria (walking distance, clean, clean sheets, personal items out of the way). It would be perfect to find a group of girls who keep their apartment clean and would be willing to vacate it for the Notre Dame weekend in exchange for $1,500+.

Another idea is the RV lot down by the stadium. This location meets your criteria. You would have to buy a pass from a booster club member ($1,500 may not be enough for the ND weekend). I know two booster club member that have an RV lot pass. I could check and see if they would sell it to you for the Notre Dame weekend.

I rent a second home in SC, but not in Clemson. I understand the process. I wish I would have thought about renting my college apartment back in the day.

Agreed with everything you said. We travel approx 250m each way (Mount Pleasant to Seneca) and this year made the trip for 6 home games (not bad for a 30-ish professional couple with 3 dogs). We stay at my in-laws place on Keowee (ridiculous house, but not walking distance by any means). In the past, my FIL has rented his house out to people coming to the games and he typically rents that place for $2500 for the weekend.

Maybe check Tom Winkopp? I dunno...
