Watching the highlight videos of the QB we signed from Plant, I have no idea why he wasn't more highly recruited.
I thought the same thing watching the highlights, "what am I missing here?". It's funny to hear Dabo say the same thing.

Then again, we may not see a 3d of them if they're not good enough to make 2nd string!!! As far as the QB, can you imagine how unlikely it would be just for D-1 schools to overlook a QB that has what it takes to be competitive at the D-1 level...

Brady had tons of division 1 offers. He played for a small school so they had to send out his tape to schools, but he had 54 offers, including UCLA (who was very good at the time), USC, Michigan, and Nebraska.

Flacco was recruited by and played a season with Pittsburgh. He didn't do great his freshman season and transferred out to Delaware. Google is your friend.

Or Aaron Rodgers or Penix. The list is endless actually.

The list is pretty limited actually. I broke down the numbers a couple days ago. There are between 1,000 and 2,000 3 star players every year compared to ~30 5 stars. Obviously, when you have a pool of 2,000 people some might be diamonds in the rough or late bloomers. It's still incredibly unlikely. Of national championship QBs in this century, something like 13 have been 5 Stars (you'd have to look in my post history for the exact number, but that's close) while 3 have been 3 Stars. The rest were 4 Stars.
Rodgers played for a tiny school and didn't do QB camps. He was found at JUCO and brought into a division 1 program. Penix wasn't blue chip, but had scholarship offers from FSU, Oregon, and Tennessee. He went to Indiana which promised him playing time.

Someone doesn't understand statistics.
But yes, if someone plays for a tiny school and then doesn't participate in QB camps, like Josh Allen, division 1 programs are going to pass over them. Cam Ward was in a similar boat, but he was recruited by Texas and A&M out of high school, just didn't have scholarship offers because he was entirely unproven. Joe Flacco had multiple Division 1 offers, including Virginia Tech, and he ultimately went with Pitt.

I am very high on this kid’s potential! It excites me how well he runs out of the pocket and throws with great accuracy! I see a bright future for this kid!

He must have been appreciative of the offer because he was the first signee this morning. Lamar Jackson was a 3 star as well, so 🤷 you never know.

I hope to hear more of this from you in the future, I know if you're saying it (as hyper critical as you've been recently) it must be very obvious that a guy was a diamond in the rough missed.

It’s like he just flicks his arm with little effort and it goes 50 yards.
Maybe another Milroy type guy?

Assuming he sticks. He definitely has the potential to be a really good player.

I thought the same thing. When he first committed I thought here we go again with the panic offers. Then after watching the tape it was like I was watching a future Lamar Jackson.

I mean the guy who just whipped our butt last week was a 3-star, not even highly regarded in his own state. If I remember correctly he was committed to Syrscuse and South Carolina flipped him late. I definitely see the potential, he checks all the boxes except for the fact that he’s only 180 lbs, but Watson, Lawrence, and Klubnik were all beanpoles too. So two years in a college weight room and he’ll be 210+ in no time. In this era of buying $10 million QBs, if we aren’t going to go out and try and outbid people you have to sign guys like this and hope they develop.
