Nice to see all the Coot Trolls and Knee-Jerk "Tiger

Oct 21, 2013, 8:58 AM

Fans" finally come out of the woodwork--we haven't seen y'all since December!

That was undoubtedly a rough one. Believe me, I sat in Death Valley the entire game.

But it is in no way indicative of where this program is. It was one game where everyone on our team seemed to have their collective worst nights. We walked into a perfect storm with an FSU team who, I sincerely believe, is the best in the country right now, coming off a bye week, and we spotted them 14 points before we even scored.

We'd probably lose that game by 10 or so points any day but when you cough up the ball inside your own 35 on the first play of the game, you aren't giving yourself a good shot.

We're still a top 10 team--yes, I honestly believe that. Bad game. #### happens. Move on. Win out. Beat the Coots. Go to the Sugar Bowl.

Stop being a bunch of whiny #######.

GO TIGERS!!! BEAT MARYLAND!!

except for the part about FSU being the best team in the country right now. I still think that distinction goes to Oregon but make no mistake, FSU is a darn good team.

I've been here all season long. Always have, always will. Satuday night was an absolute embarrassment of epic proportions. I'm not going to call for people's heads or make ridiculous assumptions or predictions like some.

But in no way am I going to "rah rah" or sugar coat or shine up the stinky terd that was saturday night. #3 teams do not lose to #5's like we did sat. night. They don't play like we did sat. night. Something is seriously wrong with our team in these situations and it isn't the first time it's happened and won't be the last until it is fixed.

I'm not going to pretend or speculate that I know what the problem is or how it is to be fixed. What I do know is something is broken.

This was to be the year. If any, this year was the one to bring it home. We are now back to where we started after the loss to the coots last year. This time it's going to be tougher to gain it all back with half our Offense and likely our OC leaving.

Don't get mad with people for being upset. A ton of money was spent by a ton of people to see a performance that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

It's ok to be mad.

We should be.

This is the stupid #### I'm talking about. Who wasn't mad?

Oct 21, 2013, 9:12 AM

But saying dumb stuff like "we're back to where we started..." "Something is seriously wrong with our team in these situations"? Seems like we did pretty well against UGAy--a team that, when healthy, absolutely could've won the MNC, same with LSU last year, VT in '11 (how many teams walk into Blacksburg and put a beat-down like that on an 11-win team at night?).

Gimme a break.

We hit the perfect storm on Saturday night.

Good teams don't necessarily win every game--they come back from games like that. That's how we'll determine whether this season was a success. Not by Saturday night.

So we're not back where we started at our last loss? I think you're reading something in to what I said that's not there. Simply stating we started this winning streak with LSU. We're now back to that. Starting another....

And yes we do have a problem in these situations. I'm sorry if you don't want to see it. The games you listed do not come close to comparing to the stage that we were on sat. or the Orange bowl

Again, was UGA not an equal "situation"?

Oct 21, 2013, 9:20 AM

If playing a top 5 team as #3 is the "situation," then we've never been in that situation. Ever. Hardly any ACC teams have.

Again, the problem won't be losing, it'll be responding to the loss and getting back there next year. And the year after, etc.

Re: Again, was UGA not an equal "situation"?

Oct 21, 2013, 9:27 AM

No UGA wasn't even close to that situation.

It was the first game. We weren't yet in title contention. No one had proven anything. Sat. was an opportunity to prove the respect that we had been given. We were playing for a BCSNC bid sat. Not even close to UGA game.

Gameday, top 10 matchup, the eyes of the college football

Oct 21, 2013, 11:11 AM

world on Clemson, a National Title-caliber team, "SEC..." Yeah, not comparable at all...

Re: Gameday, top 10 matchup, the eyes of the college football

Oct 21, 2013, 4:23 PM

nope....it isn't. Clemson wasn't #3 and wasn't in title contention and proving they belonged. Not near as much pressue on them in that game.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's no sin in being upset about that game...

Oct 21, 2013, 9:16 AM

...the sin comes in (1) letting it consume you and (2) using the loss as an avenue to pour your bile out on others.

That's why today is the Tigernet equivalent of "Return of the Archons" .... a festival of wanton ruin which no one may judge, and none should want to look back on. We'll clean up the blood and entrails tomorrow and press on.

Saturday afternoon there was much delight taken in the melt down on the fgf boards. Out of the woodwork posters were rampant and now it appears the many of us are just like them. That is what I am embarrassed about.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree, however

Oct 21, 2013, 9:23 AM

I totally agree that everyone should not have a knee-jerk reaction after a loss. If you are going to have a knee-jerk reaction, it's best to stay off of the boards until you simmer down.

However, many thought we got that bad game out of our system against NC State, then it was against BC, and now FSU. Therefore, I have to disagree that this is a top ten team. In fact, I would say right around number 20 sounds about right. We had a questionable call go our way against a horrible NC State team who has only three wins against Central Michigan, La Tech, and Richmond. We let a very average BC team play with us in our own house. When BC goes on the road and plays a top 5 or even top 10 team, it should be blowout city. Heck, even USC with a coach on his way out the door blew them out.

This is just my opinion, but I don't believe we are worthy of top ten status at this point.
