Streeter and why he needed to go

I like Streeter as a man, he's a decent guy. But in my view, he wasn't ready for OC at this level.

He lacked consistency, vision, or creativity.

60% of DJ completions were to wide receivers behind the line of scrimmage. Those are great plays occasionally, but Streeter ran them over and over, no matter the field position or down.

Against the Chickens, Streeter gave the ball to Will Shipley only 15 times the whole game, only twice in the 4th quarter in a game we lost by 1 pt. Klubnick didn't get a single play in after DJ's play went south, again, completing 8 of 29 for 99 yds.

Against Tennessee, Shipley touched the ball only 3 times in the 1st half.

These are just a couple of examples of a stale offensive built around a stale quarterback that Streeter insisted on keeping on the field, no matter how poorly he performed.

Streeter just seemed over his head without the ability to adapt. I'm glad he's gone but I do wish him and his family the best.

Sometimes the answer for someone losing their job doesn't always have to be because they were bad. Sometimes it simply comes down to having an opportunity to grab someone who is going to make you that much better.

The offense did improve under him but he was handicapped with a QB with a confidence problem and receivers who could not get separation. I hold him accountable for some bad decisions and some bad play calling but he was far from the only issue on offense and we still don't even know exactly how much of the plays called were really his decisions.

Don't get me wrong. He was miscast due to a lack of experience and needed to go but I don't think he is someone that could not develop into a decent coach with more experience and maybe more favorable circumstances.

I had a boss who once said, "sometimes you have to let people go for their own good because they don't realize that while they won't flourish here, they can go somewhere else and be an absolute rock star and in the end, all parties involved are much happier."

I hope this will be the case with Street...

I disagree completely with your summation of his

skill set, but I appreciate a generous evaluation as much as the next guy and hope he has a good life also.

Receiver separation is 50% player talent/execution and 50% play design.
Streeter’s play design was too pedestrian and did not generate mismatches and defensive confusion, which helps receivers get separation.

I have railed against the aging of our playbook and needing a re-design in many posts. However, I also alluded to the fact that some things with Streeter we just don't know, like how much flexibility he had to change it. His QB had enough confidence issues already so changing the playbook in any meaningful way may not have been an option and may not have even been allowed. We just don't know what was going on behind the scenes which is why I say I don't think we can put everything on his shoulders.

Will Shipley got 3 touches in the first half of the Orange Bowl, and although he had 132 yards rushing against S. Carolina, he only touched the ball twice in the 4th quarter in a game we lost by 1 pt.

DJ went 8 of 29 for 99 passing against S.Carolina but Klubnick never saw the field.

That's poor play calling and use of talent. That's on Streeter.

I never said he didn't deserve ANY blame; I said he didn't deserve ALL the blame...

I agree he needed to

take his skills somewhere else. He topped out about several years ago.

I could no longer support his mysterious, FOOLISH play calling.

He was a warrior as a player, a good coach, a good man, but he needs other challenges. When he has a powerful running game and won't use it, continues to try to pass as if we were STILL loaded with all world receivers, we knew he couldn't see the forest for the trees.

Go back and listen to his last 2 press conferences and get realpisssedoff all over again with his foolish comments.

Thanks Coach Streeter and best of luck.
