Here is a nice breakdown of the alternatives to YoutubeTV

Dec 18, 2021, 9:07 AM

No better way to voice your displeasure than to setup an alternative and cut YoutubeTV loose ASAP.

Bowl games including ours and Clemson basketball will basically not be available on YoutubeTV.

Possibly switching to Hulu....

Cutting YoutubeTV loose as we type and adding HULU.

Two sides to this story. They are both trying to maximize their profits.

Dec 18, 2021, 9:19 AM

Disney/ABC/ESPN is so big that they have all the bargaining chips here. Not sayin they are a monopoly but dang close. I’m not sure I’d be any angrier at YouTube than Disney. But in the end it’s free market and you choose what you went to spend money on. I get it, watching Clemson sports wins out. This is what drives up cable and satellite though. All parties involved want the most profit and subscribers want the least expensive. It’s why I can’t watch CBS on my satellite right now. The ########!

If you can't watch Clemson and the entire Bowl Season

Dec 18, 2021, 9:23 AM

do you really have a choice to stay with YoutubeTV? <img border=">

We are now a HULU house and I am watching Sportscenter on ESPN.

It’s not YouTube it’s Disney. They will get a lot of swaps today until the negotiations are completed. With more subscribers Hulu raising their prices will soon follow. Just the way this business works. #### Disney!

It takes two to tango. By cancelling, I let them know

Dec 18, 2021, 9:33 AM

what is important to me. I don't care about all of the fluff channels that are provided.

The bottom line is I can't watch what I want to watch on YoutubeTV. Paying for two providers doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

They may prove me wrong but this is an example of why I doubt

Dec 18, 2021, 9:49 AM

You would ever get true ala carte pricing. Big guys don’t want it because it puts the bargaining power more towards the consumer. I don’t want to watch lifetime or hallmark so I get my pick of 5 channels and I’m good. Price could be much less. We cut the chord as they say back in 2017 but as we are seeing those prices for each company are creeping up and up. Unfortunately as far as tv/internet but fortunately for everything else I moved into the country where my only option is satellite. I finally have a wireless internet company that provides pretty decent service but occasionally seems overloaded and would drive me crazy if I was watching Clemson football. So not a big fan of satellite but that’s what I have right now.

A La Carte is something most people would love. We pay for so much more than what we actually would ever have time to watch. These channel companies are slick though. You would be surprised even in the fluff category on how many channels one will own. So if you do not meet their demands you are losing 5-6 channels instead of 1 or 2.

the ACC and the SEC gave ESPN/Disney all the marbles to negotiate with these providers.

We're only pawns in their games.

You are correct. People can’t do without it. Easy money. Until they can slow down imploding sports costs this problem gets worse. Supply and demand.

I just signed up for a free 2 week trial of FuboTV

Dec 18, 2021, 9:30 AM

If you want the free 2 week trial just go to Fubo.tv

The Fubo app on all my devices (android, Roku, Fire TV, Samsung TV) runs really well - even better than YouTube TV on android and Fire TV. Fubo has more sports channels than most services and if the trial continues to go well, I'll probably ditch YouTubeTV even if they come to an agreement with Disney...

I will probably end up having to switch to Hulu. It's a very advantageous position for Disney since they own Hulu. They are trying to drive business from YouTube TV to Hulu Live.

Canceling YTTV vs Suspending

Dec 18, 2021, 9:52 AM

Anyone have an opinion if suspending YTTV would send a message to YTTV what we think about their latest drama? Need to find out what suspending their service even means.

Anyone have the quick pros and cons of Fubo vs Hulu as a replacement to YTTV.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Looks like suspending YTTV...

Dec 18, 2021, 10:36 AM

... Can be done for 4 weeks to 6 months so you don't lose recordings and settings. However, when you restart it it resets your billing cycle. Therefore it's best you suspend it just before your current billing cycle. They aren't going to prorate refund you if you suspend or cancel service for service already paid for.

The company I worked for is family owned and I hear about this stuff a good bit. All about the number of subscribers you have. The more you have the more money they ask for. Seems if ESPN charges 15 dollars per sub on one platform it would be the same on all platforms.

I’m telling you, Get FUBO.TV. They have All of the Sports (ACCN, all the ESPN, Golf…..) , and a beautiful Interface. I tried Hulu first, and what a mess. FUBO (“Standard”) costs me $60/mo, the “Family” plan is $65/mo. For God’s sake, stay away from Hulu.

And, one more thing: I’ve yet to have FUBO go down on me, and I’ve had it about a year.

I recall the Hulu interface sucked big time when I tried a free trial. Then I tried YTTV and loved it compared to Hulu and others. But YTTV jacking with the price and adding chit for more cost is pizzing me off. The Roku mess then this Disney chit could be the end of my YTTV subscription.
