Which is why they will form their own network in 2014.

which will be nowhere near as big as the big10 network,or even the pac12 network will be.

Not sure about that. The SEC has more people in its footprint than the Big 10 and the PAC 10.

I get the Big Ten Network now and I live in Columbia, SC.

May 21, 2012, 8:26 PM

Hardly the Big Ten's footprint. They do have some of the largest schools in the ultraverse and plenty of alumni spread throughout the land, though.

The reason CBS is not interested in raising their ante much if at all is that on any given Saturday there's a nationally compelling SEC football game taking place for fans from Maine to Florida to Hawaii to watch. Adding teams based on TV markets instead of strength of program and brand only increases the odds that the product may get watered down on those dates.

An SEC network will do fine regardless of what states its schools are in. It may take a while to get off the ground well and into the groove, but cable providers from coast to coast are going to like having it as part of their sports package.

Can I ask if you're basing that on anything that could be considered pertinent data, and is so could you link me to it?

It has always been about forming a conference network. The Big 10 got the bugs out. That's why the PAC 10 and Texas couldn't agree. Texas wanted to keep its own network. The Pac 10 doesn't allow for schools to have their own network. Neither does the SEC. All but the Big 12 and ACC are going to a equal revenue sharing networks.
