Good article. Personally I would not mind Coach K. winning one more so that Brad has an attainable goal of reaching. He already has as many as Hubert.

Odd how you define "attainable." I don't

Duke is the good guy when you're comparing them to UNC.

If we’re talking about “fans”…

Duke is definitely worse. It’s just way more obvious that Duke “fans” only exist because they like the basketball team…and have not even a remote affiliation to the university. If they would show up to a few football games, I’d have a little more respect for them.
In terms of the programs… Duke is definitely corrupt. But it’s hard to get past UNC’s academic scandal and how they were able to tell the NCAA to go screw themselves.

cheating scandal I've seen in college sports. And they didn't even get a slap on the wrist for it.

Actually the Duke Brotherhood paying Zion to go there is almost as good as UNC not attending class. Zion's parents moved from a modest house in Spartanburg to a luxury home near the Duke campus. Everyone and his brother knew either Duke boosters or shoe companies paid Zion to attend Duke and the NC2A did not lift a finger to investigate.

Lets be honest though... plenty of programs were doing

similar things - the FBI investigation proved as much. A two-decade-long academic scandal involving 300+ athletes across multiple sports is rather unprecedented and they were likely paying some of those players on top of that.

Your Duke fans thing is pretty much exactly how fan bases work. Make them successful and it is magnified. If half of the "Roll Tide" crowd I have met had a degree they would be the largest Alumni base of all time, followed closely by Ohiya State. I say without shame that I like Duke basketball and have also pulled for their football team as well.

Actually I do.

My point is… UNC fans are at least cheering for “the university of” the state they live in (in name, if nothing else). And many of them have some affiliation to the university. If they didn’t go to school there, maybe a family or close friend did. And they tend to cheer for other sports besides basketball.
“Duke fans”… not so much for any of those things. Like, Duke may as well be an NBA team.

with no prior head coaching experience, will give our AD some added confidence should we look at going the route of a Greg Buckner as a head coach replacement for Brownell following this next season. That would be a totally different tack to take for our program historically, which can't be a bad thing considering.
Go Tigers!
