How would your QB depth chart go after the Spring Game?

Apr 14, 2018, 5:20 PM

I think we will go to the playoff with no matter who starts, but I would go, just from what I saw today, with....

1. TL due to his obvious upside and incredible arm. He is the future 1st pick in the NFL draft.
2. H Johnson due to poise and just seemed solid.
3. Brice at 3 due to INT's, but he will be a good one one day.
4. K Bryant

What say you?

I've got Brice and Johnson tied for 2nd. Brice has some intangible that makes him pretty special.

Lawrence - Obvious.

Brice - I like his moxie. He'll make some mistakes but he consistently moves the ball. Dare I say Brett Favre like.

Johnson - Looks good at times but has spurts where he can't move the ball.

Bryant - Can barely move the ball at all outside of his running ability.

I pretty much agree with what you have

Except I think HJ and CB are about even. CB made some bad mistakes, but he also ran the offense fairly well. With the D we are gonna have there's really no reason not to take a flyer on TL...just my opinion though...the coaches are the ones paid to make the call.

I think we are going to have a defense that's well suited

to giving a young QB with high upside a chance to settle into the position. Lawrence or Johnson need to be out there. I really hate piling on Kelly Bryant, but it's pretty obvious he has serious limitations throwing the ball. He still misses throws that you just can't miss, and that 50 yard bomb from Lawrence to Higgins is just something that isn't even in Bryant's arsenal. He couldn't do that if he wanted to.

The spring game is just that. We see a lot of individual plays that lead us fans to think C is better than A. With a split squad, we don't have the unity we will have in a regular game. I saw some good plays today by guys who will probably never see the field next season. Who gets the major credit for two excellent catches by Higgins, Higgins or the QB? Would any of our other WRs been able to have made those catches under the same conditions? When Sept. 1 arrives, I just hope the 11 men on O and the 11 men on the D are the players that give us the best chance of winning.

All good points Joe

Hope to see the TL or HJ team up with Tee Higgins every game this season. Excellent timing for first game and not a fluke, we are are seeing some serious skill sets at work and experience beyond their years.

Giving them a grade:

Apr 14, 2018, 6:05 PM

Lawrence -- A (has 2 nice plays brought back)
Johnson ---- A- (had 2 nice plays brought back too)
Brice ------- B (maybe a B+ if he hadn't wobbled the wide open TD & then threw pick 6 on next play)
Bryant ----- C- (still need 7 foot tall receivers if he is going to hit a pass beyond 20 yards)

1. Johnson/Lawrence
3. Brice

I would choose the starter out of Johnson/Lawrence based on:

1. Whichever one can grasp and execute the most of the playbook
2. Whichever one can best execute the RPOs and screen game

I would urge Bryant to move to another position where he might have a chance of a professional future because he doesn't seem to execute in the passing game well enough to play professionally as a quarterback.

Agree, just like the 2 good OSU QB's who switched to

receivers and made NFL rosters."I would urge Bryant to move to another position where he might have a chance of a professional future because he doesn't seem to execute in the passing game well enough to play professionally as a quarterback."

hard to believe how blessed we are at QB -

Apr 15, 2018, 9:06 AM

i mean serious - agree with your order - but it just looks freakin silly to have Brice as the 3rd guy -

1. TL- Just to much upside. He has a great ability to keep his eyes downfield even under pressure. His natural arm talent allows him to make throws the other three can only dream of.

2. Hunter- He has a better grasp of the offense right now then TL. He makes quick reads and has a good accuracy. Would start pretty much everywhere else.

3. KB- He showed the same flaws yesterday that hurt us last year. He overthrows pretty much every deep ball. He does not have the arm strength that TL and HJ have. He could win another 12 games this year just because our defense will be that good.

4. Chase- Just too many turnovers for me. The game seems to move too fast for him still. He needs more time to develop.

I think you got the first two right, however I would put KB third and Brice forth......primarily due to those 3 interceptions Chase threw yesterday.......he has a very good arm and will be a good QB once he learns where and when to throw it.......Go Tigers!!!!!!
