No to be Debbie Downer but is it wise to keep burning cash when we know the football budget is soon going to explode when we have to start paying players directly?

This is nice but it still does not address the competition facility for gymnastics- sharing Littlejohn will be tough. Again more facilities but nothing to address our vball facility.

Just checked Georgia’s schedule December 6 - March 12.

That's their gymnastics schedule? What do other schools have? Yeah, I thought volleyball was getting a new facility? Really thought I read they were going to replace Jervey, or rebuild it. Vball could be played in littlejohn couldn't it?

That's tough with gym, wbball and mball at same time.

There's something in these hills.

But what is a “woman” now anyway?

Jan 28, 2022, 3:03 PM

How is that term defined? Is it just whatever a person wants it to mean? Because if not, you are going to hurt someone’s feelings. And that’s bad.

Burn, you have crashed. College athletics is about all sports and athletes will not be paid by schools other than subsidies.

Now we are still on go to upgrade volleyball right? It's awesome. I like it. It creates synergy between ALL sports.

Try to keep in mind, these are for the 10-20 year old population. Not ppl like me in their 70's. A whole new generation that have grown up different than most of us in SC. Just saying.

That's great but...

Jan 28, 2022, 1:59 PM

don't forget about the wimminz volleyball team. They desperately need a new facility. Jervey is about as antiquated as they come.

How So?

specific recommendations please.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Best is the standard....

Jan 28, 2022, 4:25 PM

and if you look at other volleyball facilities around the league and the country, Jervey gym pales in comparison. The ceiling is WAY too low for good trajectory to the setter in dig-transition.

Jervey was okay when I was there.

Jan 29, 2022, 1:10 PM [ in reply to How So? ]

I didn't ask for much, but many other athletes at the time was asking for many things.

- Better training room facilities,
- Bigger and/or more lounge areas,
- Bigger/nicer locker rooms that were more ventilated (for less smell)
- A separate weight room with equipment more aligned Olympic Sport needs with non football needs.
- Training Table for Olympic athletes. Not a full table, per se, but healthy snacks, fruits and drinks specific to the needs of track athletes.
- Even then a more modern space would have been exciting to us.

This was back in 1997-2000, so, 20+ years ago.

Jervey needs either a) a Major overhaul or b) to be flattened and rethought and built from scratch.

Turf field?

Jan 28, 2022, 3:52 PM

Never thought I would see that at Clemson but now I wonder how long before all the major fields are turf.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Turf has been discussed/considered for Death Valley too.

Jan 28, 2022, 4:28 PM

The university even conducted a study but, as I understand it, they found turf was just as expensive to install and maintain as natural grass.

If that happens I’m organizing every person I can find to protest. Totally wrong. Ivy is letting a man swim with women. Guess who is dominating?

It sounds like these additions will be icing on the cake of the best On Campus Athletic facilities in the country. Why would any athlete want to go anywhere else?

Time to take mens Lax D1. Not a lot of players in SC, but Clemson has always been a popular destination for NJ and Long Island kids.
