1973 Clemson vs Citadel

My next door neighbor loaded all the boys in the neighborhood in the back of his stationwagon - about 8 of us - and took us to the game. That was when I decided I was going to Clemson. I was 11.

Out of that group, including his 2 sons, I’m the only one that went to Clemson. I sit in his seats to this day because of that.

I attended my first Clemson game in November of 1971...

My grandfather, class of 1924 and a charter member of IPTAY, tooke me.

I was 8 years old.

Clemson won 20 - 14.

Someone in my family (my grandfather, my father, or me) has been a member since the organizations inception. Back in the day, IPTAY would give graduates a one year membership. It was up to the grad to maintain the membership. I've had maintained mine since 1985 (33 years).

in 1966. First Clemson game was probably Clemson verses South Carolina in early 1950s while it was still Big Thursday. I remember the Big Thursday game when there was a huge fight on the field between Clemson and USC fans going on to the field (mostly students- before the game or at half time??). I started to Clemson in September 1960.

The fight game you referred to was when the Usuck cheerleaders brought a cow onto the field and introduced “her” as the clemson homecoming queen! Things got ugly real quick after that. Sadly, the cow died of an apparent heart attack.

This was even before my time! My first IPTAY year was 1964. I’ve been a NC IPTAY rep for a dozen years or so.
