How does canceling the football season protect the health of

Aug 8, 2020, 1:54 PM

the coaches and players?

If the season is stopped will they continue to have supervised training.
Will they continue to be tested routinely.
Will their health be continually monitored by competent physicians.
Will they continue to be fed a proper diet that’s designed for their specific needs.
Will they be constantly schooled on proper anti viral hygiene.
Will they have goals that are dependent upon their well being making them more cautious about sanitation and social distancing.
The only danger left is from opposing teams and all the schools they are playing will be employing stringent policies concerning COVID.
If they are left to their own device without a season where is the motivation to be super careful.
If the season is canceled will nobody catch COVID ?

So unless there is someone following everybody member of the team everywhere they go, keeping them away from crowds and their families, making them wear a mask and washing their hands for them I can’t see where a canceled
season is any safer.

I’m not clear on it either. Why can’t we have a safe football season?
Why not TV only, no fans and weekly testing of athletes?
If a team has more than a predetermined number of positives, then game cancelled.Sorry if I’m over simplifying the problem.

Let's just say we have football. The Tigers kick off at WF.

The first game is played. Fine.

Then let's assume we find someone to play at home the next week.

Do the Tigers run down an empty Hill with no band? What fun is that? How many fans can be allowed in? How about tailgating? If there is anything close to what we're all used to, there is NO DOUBT cases will rise (just look at a map around the Bristol area where they had the NASCAR race with fans in attendance). Just from people gathering and coming in from all over. How do we monitor that and allot tickets fairly? Have your temp taken at the gate? Wear a mask all game? Sit feet apart from everyone?

Then we have an open date. At that point we are three weeks into the season, looking at the next kick on October 3. Do you think there will not be outbreaks on multiple teams by then? Of course there will be.

Then how do you decide what is fair or not fair for teams going forward? Will you be happy with the eventual national champs simply being the team that has the highest number of non-infected, talented-enough players?

Football is great. I will miss it greatly. But what can be played this season will not look much like college football.
