How do you fire a hall of fame baseball coach?

What would you do differently if you wanted to fire him?

I just wonder why we're firing hall of fame coaches and giving raises to coaches that have seen massive drop offs since they took over.

Probably not tell him I'm gonna give him an extension on a Tuesday then tell him he's fired on a Thursday.

Jack was never under the impression that he was getting an extension. As soon. As his meeting ended tues I was told "pep has to go".
Now whether Drad said "find a new pitching coach and we will extend you 2 years to you can retire in the dugout" I have no idea. But there was 1 stipulation.....Pep had to go.

I believe you're hearing that. But since the moment he was fired we heard reports that Jack and Pep had already agreed to part ways. So this revision seems a little convenient in light of the new possible revelations. Regardless it didn't have to be this way. DRad could have taken control of the situation, offered a concise explanation, and not floated idiotic statements like "We can do better" in the very same breath he's claiming the day should be about Jack and everything he's done for Clemson. He has completely sh*t the bed on this one. Nothing we say on here, on either side of this issue, will amount to a hill of beans. But what people in the business think will matter. And right now it isn't pretty. That deserves some scrutiny.

That was supposed to read "is it possible"...look I'm trying to piece it together just like very one else. I will be glad to hold my info and not share.....like I said I have no way to validate it anyways....until after the fact when more info comes out and more questions are asked

It's ok to fire him. You just do not tell him on Tuesday that he's getting an extension so that he can retire in 2 years ; and then fire him on Thursday. D rad is a liar. He was a liar at Ga.Tech and nothing has changed. He will be the downfall of Clemson athletics. See his tenure at Ga. Tech.

Why can't CU get an AD who is a former Tiger? Then we will all know where his or her allegiance lies...It will still be hard to fire someone who cannot see the writing on the wall that he or she should retire or resign--in those cases, fire the hardhead and move on. As we have done, thank him or her for all the good times/good years.
I do think that if DRad was not honest in his dealings with a coach, he should be held accountable. I am not saying what happened ( because I do not know and may never know ), but CU should always do things in the right way even if they are unpleasant tasks.

Maybe that was the problem. Jack rested on his HOF status when he should have been trying to keep Clemson a top 10 program.
