How did Pitt lose to W Michigan?

Oct 3, 2021, 11:33 AM

They destroyed GT and Pickett looked great. Watching replay on ACCN and can’t figure out that loss.

It’s what a lot of college teams do - lose games they shouldn’t. Remember the Bowden years? Some forget Dabo changed that.

Remember them well. Pitt and everyone else is gonna be a tough out for us.

Agree. I think just about every game here on out is going to be a battle. Except maybe UCONN lol.

Pitt gives up a ton of points. They’ve had to score a lot

I like our chances if our defense is healthy for the game.

Our offense actually is getting incrementally better. It’s just that the increments have been small.

By the Pitt game, who knows?

We have to concentrate on our actual offensive capabilities and stop trying to do the things we think we ought to be able to do.

We waste a lot of downs trying to do Trevor Lawrence type stuff with guys who so far have demonstrated no capability to execute these plays.

They had 4 Turnovers and Pitt D was Sloppy

We will need to be better with the ball in three weeks to win up there.

We are getting incrementally better.

Time will tell.

could score on Pitt. They couldn't stop them, but they won a scoring match. We have a better defense than Western Michigan, but we will not be able to hold Pitt offense to as low a total as the Pitt defense will hold our offense. Any defense, and I mean any FBS defense will hold us in the teens in regulation. Pitt will do the same. Our defense will be worn out during the game due to being on the field and will give up the necessary points. Our defense, as good as they've been, is not the same defense we started with. They have lost their top two players. Our defense really didn't stop BC last night on the final drive. BC was ging through us like a knife through hot butter. It was first and 10 at our 11 and BC's main worry was leaving too much time on the clock, which is really not a worry considering our offense. Our defense received a pure gift. It did not have to do one thing. The ball bounced right to our player and game over!

penalties, that’s the other team stopping us ... but when we hold them out of the EZ at critical, times, it’s because they screwed up?

SMDH at such logic.

Our defense was slow adjusting to WMU's RPOs. WMU's QB is very good and accurate and beat Pitt on at least 15 quick slants that moved the sticks.

In addition, Pickett was injured midway through the 1st quarter and missed 3 offensive series'. He did come back in late in the 2nd quarter and eventually ended up with 6 TD passes.

But the Pitt D was exposed. Couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs, kept giving up quick 8-10 yard slants on 3rd and 6 type situations.
