How come the best Clemson Players on the 2016 National Championship team were from the Lower State?

Jul 29, 2017, 4:53 PM

Mike Williams and Hunter Renfrow. If Clemson is in the upstate, how come there aren't any players from the upstate that contributed to this year's national championship team?

Plenty of Upstate Contributions Towards a '16 Natty

Jul 29, 2017, 5:11 PM

I think you should focus on some of the even less heralded contributions from players from the upstate. There were quite a few former upstate kids whose contributions (or lack thereof) in the USuck beating helped to bolster our Tigers prior to the ACC championship and playoff run to the Natty.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

from the Lower State?

CJ Fuller

Jul 29, 2017, 6:32 PM

CJ Fuller from Easley had some great runs and set up the Game Winning drive with a nice kick return.

And don't forget all the Daniel high walk-ons on the team who made up our scout team that prepped the team all season (even for the USuck game, although it was tough for our walk-ons to try to play that poorly)

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ok, well, there have been some

Jul 29, 2017, 7:29 PM

I just couldn't remember. Being from the lower state, All we heard about back home was Renfrow, after the catch he made in the National Championship. Forgot about Nuk and Boulware. Thanks for jogging the memory guys. Fellas like Woody Dantzler, Raymond Priester,Derrick Hamilton, Airese Currie, Daquan Bowers, Ricky Sapp, made very significant contributions, on some good teams. Sorry.

I ain't trolling Cooter. Just making valid points.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The only valid point you made on this thread is that you don't know anything about Clemson thus

town. So they work even harder to make sure they don't get stuck there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

perhaps being a chickenfan, you were unaware that

Jul 29, 2017, 11:06 PM

because the Tigers won THE 2016 COLLEGE FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, Clemson is actually allowed to recruit all over the place now.....and I know thats not information a chickenfan would normally be expected to know since, you know, they'll never win a national championship in football

Jul 30, 2017, 10:04 AM

and you asked yourself -

If I could think of the stupidest possible question I could ask to the largest number of people, what would I ask and where would I go to do it?

And your post is the answer. Good job, Timmy!

I still think you can do better. In fact, I would almost bet that we haven't plumbed the depths of your ignorance.

Jul 30, 2017, 10:21 AM

Because they had talent, work ethic, and skills necessary to start on a national championship team?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As an Orangeburg County native, I will let you slide

Jul 30, 2017, 11:09 AM

Saying Williams is from the "Lower State". I guess technically, anything east of Columbia is lower and west of Columbia is upper, but Vance is definitely not in the Lowcountry.

We have plenty of players from the "lower state", but only 22 start. The two you mentioned are both hardworking, high character guys who earned their high profile roles. We recruit all over the country. To have two huge contributors from a part of the state that is much closer to the Armpit than to Clemson is pretty good. Frankly, I might be more concerned if we relied more heavily on locals. Look what it has done for the Coots.

Jul 30, 2017, 8:31 PM

Fuller, the running back, I believe is from Easley, was a major contributor. I believe Boulware is from TL Hanna. Last year, Shaq Lawson, from Daniel, etc, etc. Stop it already, go take some sedative and warm milk, get some rest, and get ready for a new season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ben Boulware says hello!***
