Clemson moves up in ESPN/USA Softball poll

Clemson softball moved up to No. 12 in the latest ESPN/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25.

Clemson went 3-1 in the FGCU Kickoff Classic and returns to action on Thursday in the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational versus Texas Tech (3:30 p.m./ACCN).

I hope people will look at this and understand our young softball program is running the gauntlet this weekend. We will grow from this experience. I just hope people won't jump off the bandwagon if we lose several games.

The teams we're playing are all well seasoned and used to playing big girl ball. Last year we were outstanding but our weaker schedule allowed that. This weekend will get us ready to face the tougher ACC teams we'll face and give us a better picture on how good we might be.

The Texas game got away from us. Errors and wild pitches got us. Thanks and Go Tigers. All In with the young ladies. Do your best but remember to have fun. Love you girls.

got 3 ranked foes this week, the 1 last week, & 3 future foes that are currently ranked (Duke, FSU, UGA, & VT). I think we might see the win totals dip this year b/c of that increased competition & b/c we're probably not sneaking up on anyone after last year. But the step up in competition should pay dividends in the long run when it comes to building up the program.
