thanks for the web trackers, and no wonder you are so ill informed. That site puts you on a data collection list for gullible people that believe crazy nonsense. You literally have malware determining just how, and what kind of crazy you are, and it is feeding you more of what you love.

good going, this is all starting to make sense.

Well, New York Post is Rupert Murdoch and News Corp.

You know, the same Australian/English third-gen blueblood who owns Fox and tells everybody how to be a Real 'Merricun.

Gotta love the True Patriots like Rupert.

Well, I'm delighted you actually know there's an Austalian telling all you real 'Merricuns how to be real 'Merricuns.

What I'm less delighted about, is, I dunno, doesn't that seem, you know, maybe a little strange?

You've never really considered what the game of a third-generation English/Australian news mogul might be, peddling his brand of divisiveness here in America? I can promise you it isn't because he loves America or is in any way American - he still lives in Australia and England though he's officially an American citizen because you have to be to own American news media.

So if Rupert's game isn't patriotism, why do you feel what News Corp is peddling is somehow patriotism and not in fact something far more profitable...populism?

Do you genuinely not know the difference?

Re: Here comes the fascism

Jun 18, 2022, 10:10 AM

Yep I know all of you liberals (and you are one, just accept it), think fascism is only right winged nationalists or race-supremacists. But fascism is more about power and control. The reason that this move by the Biden administration is fascist, is because it’s only purpose is to suppress opposing views. Other fascist characteristics of this administration: the exorbitant about of EO’s used. The willful picking and choosing which federal laws to enforce (that’s what dictators do). Wealth redistribution. Straight attacking private businesses. Covid lockdowns were straight nazi. This isn’t your great grandpas fascism.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Here comes the fascism

Jun 18, 2022, 11:10 AM

Again, I am not a "liberal", boo. I'm Libertarian...and I'd be happy to demonstrate the difference to anyone who can't understand it. Just show up on my porch uninvited sometime.

And you're using words wrong - Fascist is a right wing political philosophy - but I'll still address what your main points because in my opinion you seem to be conflating some things.

First off, let's talk about the disinformation board...what it says its actual goal is. Officially its position is "to protect national security by disseminating guidance to DHS agencies on combating misinformation, malinformation, and disinformation that threatens the security of the homeland."

Okay, most of us would argue that's absolutely necessary. The devil's in the details. Who decides? And does anyone trust Kamala freaking Harris to run it? Before calling it "fascism", though, I would say: let's take a hard look at the particulars. That's how you keep one hand on the wheel, it's supposed to be a public discussion. You're just refusing to even discuss or take part...so guess what, it's going to be Kamala Harris who decides. Or else, the administration's going to change and it'll get thrown out entirely or morphed straight to pure right-wing bias, and that's not good either. Ask Russia.

The abuse of EO's has grown steadily - in all administrations, including Trump's - since our Congress really got gridlocked in around 2012, which coincided with the all-or-nothing Tea Party (which was largely a creation of, again, Fox News, which ran John Boehner right out of Congress.) Want to curb EO's? Congress needs to take its power back, tell over-reaching presidents "no" even when they're members of your party, and stop the partisan bullsh!t and go back to doing deals across the aisle. EO's have risen because Congress is a mess. That's not really "fascism" so much as it's a sign of a highly partisan and dysfunctional government.

"The willful picking and choosing which federal laws to enforce"...uh, do you have any idea how many Federal agencies Trump just flat-out neutered by installing people in them hostile to the entire agency? He put a coal lobbyist in charge of the freaking EPA, for crying out loud. The root cause is again the same as the above: a divided and partisan government that can't agree on anything and isn't functioning as it should.

Wealth redistribution is a Socialist thing. Not a Fascist thing.

"Straight attacking private business." Again, Socialism. Not Fascism.

"COVID lockdowns were straight Nazi." Actually I would argue they were, again, the result of an unprepared public-health system and sort of illuminated a failure in our public-health policy to effectively deal with modern pandemic. What's the acceptable trade-off between deaths and the economy? Because you do have to make that choice. Are we going to pursue a zero-COVID strategy like China does, or are we going to be more Go Forth And Take Your Chances, and how do We The People ultimately weight the facts and decide that? That's the real argument, to me. And it's hard to do with idiots on both sides making noise...and freaking Russia pumping gads of deliberate anti-vax hysteria into our social mediasphere just to undermine the confidence in our institutions and kill as many of us as possible. Which goes back to the stated point of the disinformation board.

I don't agree with your take on some of that, but none of that is what makes Trump or his more fervent supporters Fascists.

Re: Here comes the fascism

Jun 18, 2022, 10:14 AM [ in reply to Re: Here comes the fascism ]

Oh, they know. It's the same old game, though. Populism is all about fanning the flames, convincing people they are justified in their anger, getting the mob all riled up...and then directing them at their enemies.

Along the way, the swindler pushing that drek grabs absolute power because Only He Is Strong Enough To Fix It, which was always his real goal, and the marks he just played just give it to him without even realizing what they just broke...or what they really just gave up.

I mean, the bulk of the population of Russia still doesn't realize they've been played, though huge chunks of the better-informed do and are running for other shores as fast as their private jets can carry them.

It's easy to see when it's, say, Rwanda, and you see the Hutu Power Movement literally ###### Tutsi women on the street and then cutting their heads off with machetes - hey, NC_Tiger would love that, black-on-black crime! - or the Rohingya genocide in Burma at the hands of the Burmese military because, well, the Burmese think the Rohingya are just bad and deserve it.

But we ourselves seem really blissfully unaware we're being led right down that primrose path too, and that the extremists on both sides seem really bent on either pushing the All White Men Bad narrative from the left, or the usual Fascist All Liberals Are Socialists and Traitors & Therefore Bad narrative from the far right.

Re: says the person that calls someone on here a literal fascist

Jun 18, 2022, 10:30 AM

"Fascist" is a political term, not "name-calling." If the shoe fits...and if you're being honest, you'll see I don't generally run around calling people "racist". I don't recall seeing anything remotely racist from you, for instance. I've never seen it even from CharlestonTom, who I loathe as much as any poster I've ever crossed paths with on a message board forum. Tom is virulently anti-establishment and is a self-described "accelerationist" - those are mostly the Boogaloo Boys, who want to set fire to the world and live in some kind of post-Apocalyptic utopia - but if Tom's racist I've never seen it. He does not appear to be.

NC_Tiger...I'd say his posts speak for themselves. The flak he's gotten over the years he kind of brought on himself. And he does have some company here.

I assert you are way, way too bright to be using BS forms of argument, Neal. I expect dumb from, say, CaptCrash, sure...as TBalm once pointed out, most of his arguments are basically some form of "I eat glue". Tom never met a fact he couldn't disregard or distort. But, dude. you're very bright, is it too much to ask that you argue like a rational person and not just scream reflex emotional talking points that seem recycled right off last night's episode of Tucker freaking Carlson?

If you look at a political spectrum and the behavior a group exhibits at each stage, you will see there's really just three primary political forces at work in the country here. On the far left, representing about 10-12% of the electorate, are the Bernie Bros, the ones who call themselves "Democratic Socialists" but are in fact (in my opinion) no such thing. Given the chance they'll morph into outright Communists, complete with Thought Police. They've taken root mostly on the West Coast, in big cities like New York and Chicago, and on college campuses...and they're no more democratic than a Fascist is. On the far left, representing a hard 30-35% of the electorate...are the MAGA's...and they indeed increasingly fit the definition of "Fascists".

In the middle, representing about 50-55% of the electorate, are the ones in the middle, who may lean any which direction but who still believe in traditional American democracy. They're increasingly unrepresented anywhere in our government.

That's always been my assertion and argument. I defy you to argue otherwise...in a rational manner.

Re: says the person that calls someone on here a literal fascist

Jun 18, 2022, 10:35 AM

Correction: sorry, I meant, "on the far right, representing 30-35% of the electorate".

If you want to talk actual rational views, I'm always game. If you want to just sneer at me, expect return fire. And I make no apologies for my sharp tongue. That ain't ever going to change, sorry.

The only thing on that list Trump did was exalt America, which was against the wishes of Corporate Facists, hence the all out war against Trump from every conceivable institution. Trump wasn't close to being a Facist. He could be legitimately described as a Populist though. When you insinuate Trump is a Facist you expose your lack of intellectual capital. If it's any consolation, you have plenty of company on this bored.

Re: Here comes the fascism

Jun 19, 2022, 3:26 PM [ in reply to Re: Here comes the fascism ]

In one word, fascism is totalitarianism. A person can stand for many things (America First, strong business, and etc.) but is not a fascist if they are willing to work with others. There's enough fascism on both sides in this country to go around. I guess that definition would mean any parent that told their children (to protect them) it has to be done this way is a fascist. Not true!
