Hope Notre Dame wins out

The obvious reason is because it continues to make our signature win the best in the country and improve our SOS.
But another possible benefit is if they win out and miss the playoffs because they are not conference champion, it will push them closer to full membership in the ACC which will be a great thing for the conference and Clemson.
The path for this happening isn't very likely this year. By winning out, they would have to beat Stanford which would probably freeze the PAC 12 out of the playoff. Assume the playoff at this point would have:
- Clemson - Baylor/TCU winner - SEC Champ
Then the fourth spot would probably go to an 11-1 Notre Dame team. But what if Utah wins out and Stanford gets another PAC 12 loss somewhere then you would have a 1-loss Pac-12 champ in Utah with a pretty decent resume. Would the committee leave out the PAC-12 champ in favor of Notre Dame?
Much can happen but regardless of the details eventually the year will come where Notre Dame feels disadvantaged in their ability to make the CFP because they can not be a conference champ. Gone are the days when they could make the Fiesta Bowl with a 6-4-1 record based solely on their name. You've got to earn it now.
Also, if they did join the ACC fully, that would mean 8 conf games. Following the Clemson formula, they could play two Power 5 non-conference games and two cupcakes. USC would be a definite P5 rivalry to maintain. The other P5 game could rotate between other good match ups like Stanford, Michigan, Michigan State, etc. They could rotate the service academies as one of the cupcakes. It's workable. I mean, how important is it to be able to schedule Temple and UMass anyway?
Financially, let them keep the NBC contract. They would get a 5/12 share of the ACC regular season TV revenue for the 5 road games and 100% of NBC money for their 7 home games. It's fair. They can command that contract so they should keep it and the money. It would require a bit of math to figure out what portion of the ACC football regular season contributes to the overall contract with ESPN, but it is certainly possible.
Best possible case scenario for the ACC returning to FB prominence:
- Clemson wins National Championship this year, giving the conference 2 out of the last 3 - ND joins as full member within 5 years - Miami makes a home run hire, somehow fixes their problems, and returns as a national power - VT gets good again post-Beamer - And for good measure, Clemson wins it all again next year giving the ACC 3 out of 4!
It might not all happen, but there is a path for this weak ACC nonsense to get solved.

If you want ND to join the ACC...

You should hope they lose the remainder if their game this season. That won't be enough to make them join a conference though. They need to get in the crapper and stay in the crapper for the remainder of the PlayOff (PO) Contract. A decade might do it.
They have the a huge exclusive TV contract and also receive an automatic 2.3 million payment from the PO contract. Add that to any money they get from an appearance in a PO game and their payout is bigger than any other university in the country.
Think of it this way. If Clemson had those benefits would you want us to join the ACC?
The following link provides the information to get the numbers I previously listed. IMO, the only hope of ND joining a conference is if it goes broke, AS IF!

The POC would still take Ole MS. They'd say it's the 'eye test,' and how much better they are playing now that early in the season.
ESPiN has more power over the POC than we'd imagine. Last season ESPiN tried it's best to see more than one SEC team in the playoff. They over-rank/rate those punks every year and have since the beginning of the BCS contract.
A two loss SEC champ might get left out for a one loss SEC team without a championship but the SEC will not be left out of the POs.

You're forgetting the B1G I think. Assuming the winner of OSU/MSU goes undefeated, as does Iowa, then the winner of the B1GCG will be in the CFP. So it's very conceivable ND could win out and still be locked out of playoff by Clemson, B1G champ, SEC champ, and Big 12 champ.

You're right! I totally forgot about the B1G.

And good enough for them. They need to go ahead and get in our conference, fully, or get out. It has added nothing to our conference that I can see for them to be partial member.

Notre Dame needs for Clemson to lose otherwise, Clemson is one of the four teams in which decreases Notre Dame's chances of getting in.
