Home and Home with East Carolina

May 13, 2020, 8:09 AM

I think this would be a fun match-up for several reasons. ECU has a passionate fan base and a lively atmosphere. I would like to play the second game (on their campus) in Greenville (not in Charlotte as ECU has done with Tobacco Road). Plus, Greenville, NC is a reasonable drive for Clemson alumni in the DC/NOVA area (a huge number).

their the 2nd most passionate fanbase in that state. Would like to see it also, I think their stadium is about the size of Raliegh, they've had some dang good teams over the years

I live in WNC and I would say that the ECU folks are more rabid than the App State folks. Neither are sober but I will give a slight nod to the Pirates over 'Eers even out west in the wrong Carolina

It would certainly be a step up from playing our small

in-state schools. National media gives East Carolina a lot of respect as a Giant Killer.

I don't see Clemson scheduling a home and away...

with a team whose stadium has a capacity of 50,000 or less and is not in one of the Power 5 conferences.

It's the same reason Clemson didn't make a return trip to TCU before or after the game at Clemson in 2009 or to Marshall before or after the game at Clemson in 1999.

At the time, TCU's stadium only seated about 44,000 and they were still in the Mountain West Conference. Marshall's stadium only held 30,000 and they were, and still are, a Conference USA team.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

They wouldn’t. Clemson could do a 2 and 1 series with them.

May 13, 2020, 9:22 AM

Like how SC did with App St. 2 games in Columbia, 1 in Boone

They go to ECU in 2021 and App State in 2025

I wonder who will be coaching them?

Not just no

but hayul NO!

From a football standpoint, ECU is a bad joke. It has been years since they were that little blip of the CFB screen and literally are a terrible team. #### Naw! Their crap attitude and general suckiness might stick to our shoes. Just talking about it makes me want to puke.

Hate to be a Power 5 snob, but no way should this ever happen. Neither "home and home" or "2 for 1" with ECU or any other non-P5 team.

Also, need to understand Clemson's normal schedule formula (2021 being an odd exception):

7 home games
4 ACC road games
1 P5 road game - alternates between the coots and the non-conf P5s like Notre Dame, Auburn, A&M, OU, LSU, etc.

Are you really willing to give up a marquee match-up with ND or OU to play in Greenville, NC?

Never going to happen under the current construct of college football.

Schools that are not serious about football like Miami, NCSU and UofSuck do these type of things. Certainly not Clemson.

May 13, 2020, 4:50 PM

Clemson's been forced to play 8 road games most of these past five years! Now, circumstantially, that's okay...but it can't be worsened! ;)
