Anyone on here believe that Arch Manning's visit to UVa

last week was anything more than a good play action fake?
Could Coach Elliot really have a shot?
Naahhh. Butt, I would eat some seasoned crow if it happened, if for no other reason than several SECheat coaches would probably be fired.

You are 100% NOT going to have to eat crow. Don't worry. UVA offers nothing that the other schools in the mix don't, and all have better football programs from top to bottom. If he went to UVA that would be the dumbest move he could ever make other than going to Vanderbilt.

Nobody would ever be fired for not getting a recruit. Since Manning's sister goes to UVA and it is a great school in an unbelievably beautiful part of the country, why would they not visit?

flat out guarantee the SEC as a whole would take it as a huge "slap in the face" insult if a Manning goes anywhere other than SOME SEC school to play football. If his sister played football, she probably would not be at UVa, either.

His mom and aunt (Peyton's wife) graduated from UVA.

His sister currently attends college there also. I'm sure it's just a courtesy visit.

Valley Boy is right about Charlottesville being a great spot and a great place to visit your big sister - particularly when its Mom's alma mater.
My UVA buddy believes that's as far as it goes - a courtesy visit and photo op. But Arch is in a unique position to do what he wants. Good for him! Clemson is in great shape with CK2 and Vizzina!

The Mannings are close with Dungy, who is close with Coach Elliott
I think it was a favor (generates some positive pub for UVA)

I believe Manning commits to a program that has a great offensive line and of all the schools remaining on his list, Virginia does not give him the ability to shine. I say he goes elsewhere.

UVA is looking to replace the statute of its founder, Thomas Jefferson. If Manning goes there, the Heisman Trophy statute of his likeness will be the replacement statute and they will forget that Thomas Jefferson ever existed.

You never know, Ole Miss was horrible when Eli picked them… I know more family history there but seems some family connections to UVA. I thought Eli going to OM was a horrible choice and no shot at competing for championships (which was right), but you never know.
