Hey Spud - betcha never did anything like this

Aug 7, 2022, 5:59 PM

Guy fishing with me caught a catfish about 8 inches long barely big enough to get the hook in his mouth and reeled him in with a Lake Greenwood snail latched onto the line, and a spinner bait that someone lost also caught onto the line. The snail had somehow opened up and closed onto the line and he had to crush the shell to get him off. More than a little weird.

You got it right - all 3 were on the line when he

reeled it in- not sure how the snail latched onto the line above the hook- it wasn’t a clam that can open & close but just a big snail. One time I was fishing with a guy who cast into the Saluda River near Ware Shoals and his hook went through the eye of a lure that was on the bottom….. chances of that??

My brother in law from Ware Shoals to the Broad in Gaffney. We were wading and fishing...he caught one on a fluke that broke him off. A week later we went again and I hung one. When I got him in...my line had some how caught his line from the week before that was still snagged on a rock on one end and had a 1 lb. Sallie on the other with a fluke in HIS mouth. True story!!!.......Annnnd I caught this one this year...he is about the same size as the fluke...I smallness got to be 100lbs. I would not get in the water!

Bout 20 years ago I was bass fishing on lake Murray. Thought I hooked a stick. Pulled in a brand new ambassador 5500c with a Shakespeare rod. Been fishing with it ever since.
