Darn cool that it came in a win

Honestly, feeling any sort of embarrassment as a fan of a team who just one a road match against a ranked opponent seems odd to me. Plenty to discuss and critique and dissect, but embarrassment? Nah, that doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah…some very inexperienced players and an inexperienced DC learned some valuable lessons today AND we won the game. I’d say that is a positive. I recall being frustrated with Venables D at times as well and not sure he would have done much better playing against a pretty good QB with multiple starters out. Time will tell if we need to make permanent changes…but we won the day today.

So, let's say you are the valedictorian and you're taking a test in a general algebra....and you make a 40. Would you be embarrassed? When you have probably 6 or 7 NFL guys on defense and can't make a stop...ever...I'd call it embarrassing

Interesting analogy

I'd argue part of the issue with that is your assumption that we are the equivalent of a valedictorian as a defensive whole. I think we have top tier talent and experience on the line, but I'd find it hard to suggest we have that in our defensive backs. I'd also argue that this year's WF team isn't the equivalent of "general algebra." The team (both coaches and players) can choose to feel however they choose to feel about the game (obviously), but to suggest we as fans should own any embarrassment about a road win over a ranked opponent is just strange to me.
This isn't the same defensive squad from the past 5 years. There is no shame or embarrassment in noting that we've got a lot of young talent (both on the field and in the coaching room) and to watch them find a way to play as a team and win a tough road game is FAR from embarrassing. At least, that's the way this lifelong Tiger fan who has seen some VERY lean years feels.

going against a secondary missing three starters had anything to do with what you saw? Also if we couldn’t make a stop…ever how did we manage to win?

If you are the valedictorian and haven’t made it out of algebra yet, I would say there wasn’t a ton of high achievers at your school

I’d say you know something about failing tests since you can’t even finish the analogy. The team won and the defense made the final stop at its position of weakness. Hard to give that anything worse than a 70.

Wake has plenty of NFL guys on offense and you noticed they avoided attacking our guys who are about to be in the NFL buy using their NFL ready QB and NFL receivers against our freshman who were on their first start

This defense has the talent I believe. The front 4 hasn't played the way I thought they would which is exposing the secondary.

I have a feeling that the 3 missing DB's contributed to it.***

I’d say the WV game or FSU with Jamis Winston or Pitt 2016 all just as bad or worse being most of the problem yesterday was penalties.. turn the head find the ball and it’s a different ball game
