Have been very concerned with Coach Nick Eason's Weight..

Aug 15, 2022, 9:13 AM

and just feel that he's cruising for major health issues sooner than later..and this pic is telling.

I remember watching him at a Chapel Hill game (80's?) when he came off the field..and I was on the track just yards from him and thinking I'd never seen a ClemsonTiger D Player any more fit, muscular and a top warrior among warriors.

Recently n an article quoting him, he laughed about the two junk foods he had to have (?snickers, ice cream) and I knew then he was in trouble with his diet.

Amazingly our and most football players today eat better & healthier than 75-90% of the general public due to a staff of nutrient & calorie-minded experts that put out only the best in snacks & meals.

With that said for the players, I've noticed over the years that some coaches, even Dabo to a small degree, get a bit overweight at times during the season probably due to the grinding schedule & late hours looking at film and don't take the time to eat correctly & exercise regularly as their players have to do.

Wish I could find a pic of Nick when a player here.

Saying..really concerned for a special man & new coach.

Ok, I'm ready to bear the criticisms but not until I down my bowl of heated oatmeal with sugarless 30 low-calorie non-diary milk, seeds, walnuts. cinnamon, olive oil & topped with blueberries. Yum~

Go TiGERS..exercise, eat the best & live Long!

He is probably getting a decent amount excercise with a lot of walking and just coaching generally. He should be careful.

He was very undersized as a D1 Defensive tackle....

I had several classes with Nick and can tell you

Aug 15, 2022, 9:29 AM

that he was a scary man, stature-wise. There would be nothing you could do if he decided to turn you into a pretzel. Even back then, the dietary requirements were something to behold. The supplements, shakes, food consumption and management therein was on full display. I forget who it was, last name Neely, who I’d see often walking to class with a full meal, bucket of chicken or who knows what else. It’s tough for those career guys to transition into a normal eating regiment when they retire. I suspect Nick knows he’s got to work on his weight for his health, but yes, I’ve noticed myself.

Nick will handle his business, I’m sure he still has 4 times the muscle most of us have plus he has muscle memory.

It would be much easier for him to get in shape than most of us because if he works out his body will burn fat quickly.

He has the means an ability to diet the way he chooses, he sacrificed for years while playing to be in incredible shape.

I love his drive, smile, joy and ability to bring everyone together while recruiting the absolutely best players!

You are right. Every season in college football we see active coaches drop dead of heart attacks. At least the last two years have been black coaches. Nick is a terrific man - God using him in lots of ways. Let’s pray God nudges him to get fit.

I've noticed that too with Nick. Maybe he reads your poast and starts today. I've got 10 lbs I need to drop myself but those sweets are so darn good!!!! Its not as easy as just putting them down. Gym use to overcome all of it but not once we cross that "50 yard line". Age 50, that is.

Some people have their vices which ultimately are their downfall. Nick may love on the sweets too.

And that whole vegan thing was never going to work.

Dude needs to OMAD 5 days a week and stay away from processed foods, vegetable oils (other than EVOO) and grains. Cut High fructose corn syrup.

He didn’t look very unhealthy Saturday when I stood beside him at the IPTAY meeting. He will be a tremendous asset to this team. Great gentleman who will add a lot to this teams rise back to the top. I expect that the players have a lot of respect for this big guy. One of several new faces on the sidelines who knows what it takes to be the best.

I was at school at the same time he was there. I remember him gaining a ton of weight after he got on the weight program at Clemson. A lot of times what we interpret as bad weight might be good weight. Remember when you stop lifting weights and conditioning, these things happen to the body. Im sure he'll be as thin as rail by seasons end due to the stress and demand of what is to come.

among those employed by the program. Yes, there is probably a lot of “stuff” preventing them from not being in the best shape, but there are just as many there convenient to utilize. All that time in the weight rooms, gyms, etc offer opportunities to find pockets of time to work on fitness. I mean hell, look at BV.

Re: Have been very concerned with Coach Nick Eason's Weight..

Aug 15, 2022, 9:39 PM

I disagree on this one. The coaches get heavier in the off season, IMO. In season, they don't have time for anything but football; practices, film study to a fault, dogging the players to push harder, and then when all that's done they have to watch, and re-watch, and re-watch again, over and over again each player's actions on every single play. I don't think a coach has much of any life outside of football in season, and especially during camp. I can remember watching film and the critiques that seemed to go on and on and on (and we never really were very good back then). I cant imagine the regimen the coaches, and players endure now.

Not saying, at all, that he doesn't need to be watching his weight and his diet, exercise regimen, etc. I remember another wonderful Clemson Tiger, Levon Kirkland, who bulked up so much after he was in Clemson. It happens, for sure. I mentioned in the earlier post that the average life expectancy of an ex-NFL player was 53, or thereabouts. Nick certainly needs to watch his weight and overall health closely, and to do something about it if he wants a long and healthy life.

I read somewhere that the average life expectancy of an ex-NFL football player is/was 53 years of age. Too many calories for too many years adds up to trouble. When they were players it was pretty easy to burn the calories needed to maintain it. When one stops all the regiment needed to manage the weight, it just piles up, and for each LB of extra fat one has, the heart still has to pump the blood through miles of extra capillaries to get through all the mass. The heart just ultimately gives out. It's been a while since I read all that stuff, so my numbers may be off a little, but not by too much. Anybody know of any really old NFL linemen? Me neither.
