Dexter Lawrence > "The Fridge"?

Nov 1, 2016, 2:56 PM

Was looking on line to see the ht/wt of William Perry when he was at Clemson. Best I could find was his ht/wt for when he played for the Bears (6'2" 350lbs). Big Dex is already 6'5 345lbs - is it possible that Dex is bigger than the Fridge when he was at Clemson? My Lord Big Dex is a giant!

He's already made a HUGE impact as a true freshman...

See what I did there? ;)

Fridge was listed at just over 300 lbs. his freshman year if I remember correctly.

He was quicker than a cat at 300 lbs.

and he was the only 300 lb lineman on the team

and one of very very few playing D1 football

6'2" 313lbs walking in the door as a freshman. Leg pressed 720 lbs, tops on the team. Could do a double flip off of the low board (1 meter). Board hit the water. Like watching a rhinoceros do ballet.

Did you see the water tricks?

I sense a challenge for Wilkins

Yes. Played basketball with him too. He stood down in the corner and shot 3's. Perry Tuttle could jump out of the gym, I'd say 18-24 inches over the rim, but the guy nobody could stop was Andy Headen DE. It was a dunk fest, dude was a beast.

Wow, he could make threes even before three point shot Existed? That's impressive

DL=Chester McGlockton

CW=William Perry

Let us not start the ceremony just yet.

Nov 1, 2016, 6:14 PM

We are just nine games into the first season here. Perry played long and hard to get to his position in the hearts of Clemson fans.

I'm not saying either is more or less, I'm just saying it's a long way to the end of Dex's Clemson career and he still remains many accomplishment short at this point.

I hope you're right but I'm not about to coronate a freshman and dethrone one of our greatest Trench Warriors.

The bar for talent in college football has risen so much, the Fridge might be on the bench if he was on the 2016 team. Kids are bigger, quicker, and stronger across the board. Perry was an anomaly for his time, but would probably only be 4 stars coming out of high school today. Of course if he had the same training, nutrition, and supplements kids use today he would have been even better.

Nooo...he wouldn't be on the bench!***

Go back and watch how low the Fridge would be in his down stance, no way anyone was having leverage on him.

Players are bigger and faster now

Nov 2, 2016, 10:11 AM

I feel like during the Fridge's time, 300+ LB Linemen who were that athletic were a rarity. Now, it seems to be common. Fridge was a stud and ahead of his time. It's hard to compare Fridge and Dexter because of the different eras they played in, but both are absolutely incredible athletes

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fridge was around 320 lbs at Clemson

Nov 2, 2016, 10:20 AM

I'm pretty sure. Dex is bigger and faster

I had Fridge bigger at 320. He was 305 his senior year.
