My problem is with Thanksgiving food.

Nov 23, 2021, 11:05 AM

Turkey is like my least-favorite meat. I'd rather have beef, chicken, or pork.

I eat mashed potatoes fine. Macaroni and chees most of the time. But all the other sides are disgusting. Everybody's pigging out, and I'm just like, I'll have another roll, I guess.

I'd rather eat Mexican, Italian, Chinese, burgers, fried chicken. You can have the traditional Thanksgiving stuff.

Nov 23, 2021, 11:25 AM

The wise men didn't see Jesus until quite a while after his birth, maybe as much as 2 years.

Also, there is no reason to believe there were three of them. They brought three gifts, but there could have been only 2, or 200 of them.

Don't get your Bible from Hallmark, bro-cephus.

Nov 23, 2021, 12:17 PM [ in reply to He's right about turkey though, dry AF with little ]

I'm a savory guy, as opposed to sweet. I like a country ham, with enough sodium to choke my arteries. But a Thanksgiving or Christmas ham is usually dripping with sugar, and I don't go for that. Give me some salt and spice, and leave the sugar off my meat.

that's pretty sad man

Nov 23, 2021, 12:58 PM

the only thing I agree with you throughout this thread, is that I think the sides are too often times casserole. We eat a lot of just plain old veggies, and there's not enough green in traditional thanksgiving stuff, specially down south.

My nan's dressing was unbelievable. I'll miss that for the rest of my life. Last year my aunt made an oyster dressing that was off the chain. Outside of those two, I typically don't eat dressing.

Squash & greenbean casserole are delicious. Too thick for me as a weekly / monthly standard tho. I like them both stand alone just fine.

If turkey's done right it's fantastic. I've smoked and fried mine since my grand parents passed away, and I feel confident they'd be proud. I actually prefer smoked to fried.

I think turkey and good cranberry sauce is great. We've made that combo (typically just a smoked breast) outside of thanksgiving.

This year we're making a beef tenderloin w/ the turkey b/c why the #### not? Everyone loves a slab of filets.

The good part isn't the food tho man. It's chilling w/ the fam trying to figure out how to make all this dope ### #### that my grandma used to do by herself. And my family is bout as dysfunctional as they come (I've been the black sheep until dawghater2baby got here), with the star players not even here anymore...and I still enjoy it.

Be thankful you got some folks around willing to ######## for a day and cook ridiculous food. When those folks are gone you can go get a quesadilla or spaghetti all you want.
