The NIL market went from zero to $10 million in transactions at INFLCR in less than six months," Cavale said. "But only 1% to 2% of that 480,000 are receiving substantive money.
"We're in the first 400 meters of a marathon. It's fear of missing out. People saying, 'I'm a failure.' No, you're not. That's not true. It's just the beginning."
I am like most of you I have enjoyed college athletics for many years. It is just tragic to see ESPN , CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and many other sports media outlets and corporations throw $$$$$$$$$ at player’s turning CA’s into a free for all and a what’s in for me.
Just a thought after seeing so much money being given to such a small percentage. How long can you keep these young kids together as a team before it becomes “ Me only” I can see WR’s and RB’s complaining about not getting the ball more. Other player’s trying to get their names out there. It’s really going to put jolt in recruiting. Divided locker rooms, players paying for their own apartment, the lose of the true college experience for a select few of the athletes because they are to busy counting their $$$$$. It will be an interesting season in 2022.

The NIL will help the very big name players in every sport, it is not about football, and will not kill football. Athletes are human and deserve to be rewarded when a school makes money off their names and that is what NIL is. How businesses decide to throw away their advertising or payroll money is their business, but you can rest assured if they do not receive a return for their investment, they will cut the cord.

All playing out exactly how it was predicted...I hope I don't see people crying about unintended consequences, because all of the negative aspects were pointed out time and time again but ignored.
One of the next things that will happen: these kids will be told by various tax agencies: "You're professional athletes...welcome to the world of 'jock taxes'". They'll be unhappy having to file and pay income taxes in 7 or 8 states. They'll be unhappy to find that many of their benefits will morph into being considered non-cash compensation from their "employer" and is now taxable. That's pretty much inevitable too.

I really have no problem with NIL as it was intended - $ for autograph signings, hocking goods/services for a business of ongoing concern, and ad revenue from tech platforms. However, poorly written laws and lack of any meaningful enforcement mechanism leaves us with privately funded private entities buying players and funding rosters. NIL rights acquisition is an afterthought for them. On top of all of that, the portal is a hot mess. That is where we are and still have a ways to go sliding down the slippery slope.

When I used to see kids wearing #4 Jerseys with Watson's name on them and DW4 receiving no money, I thought it was BS. However, when NIL deals are being offered to incoming freshmen whose names, images, and likenesses are in fact worth nothing it has turned into a way to buy players and nothing more. If that is what DFB has become, or will become, I'm out. Part of the problem began with the NCAA being unreasonable, and that was aided by the U.S. Supreme Court not having enough common sense to get out of a shower of ####.

Slowly but surely the value of a college education via a football scholarship is being lost and treated as an inconsequential benefit to the main objective - making NIL money. These collectives are nothing but "pay for play" schemes hiding behind an NIL mask.
If the NCAA (dead man walking so highly unlikely) or Congress (hate it but the only viable option at this point) doesn't intervene to put some restrictions on these collectives then college football will become a non-competitive sport where programs with the most affluent boosters simply buy their rosters and championships. If it gets to this point then count me out as I'll drop out of this scene all together...
