1st Big 12....now a radio station in FL (100.3) is claiming SEC to go to 16 by 2014 & CU/FSU are atop their list.

One radio station of questionable relevance and authority is reporting a wild rumor out of left field with no documentation to back it up. Probably just to stir up the waters and get the twitterverse chattering. I think we've heard this story before.
If it gains traction then hey, I'm all for it, but I'm not getting caught up in the expansion hype again. I, and I imagine most people on this board, are tired of it all.

An instate college coach who says the SEC will be first to expand but says it will be UNC and VT who get the nod. I didnt believe him at first bc the talk had been NC State but he said there have alreasy been discussions with the conference and two schools. Just fyi.

Yeah, as much as I'd love to go to the SEC, just doesn't make sense to take us & FSU as they are already placed in those markets. The VA & NC market base tends to make more sense if they were to expand.

that UNC would give-up the preferential treatment of the ACC for a conference they could not control and manipulate.

Or at least less unhappy.
VT would be a loss, but I don't really consider them to be a keystone of the conference's fate.
Still, not holding my breath. Not even a little bit.

But the reality is that the next round of expansion starts the domino effect and no one wants to be left out. I think as much as UNC gets, they see the writing on the wall for the ACC in a few years. When conferences expand, they will all pluck ACC teams and all want out.

Well, to be fair, now that there's 14 members in the SEC the USC-UGA-UF trifecta no longer has an effective veto like it did last year. I believe the SEC threshold to accept new members is 3/4 majority, yes? The trifecta no longer controls enough votes.
That assumes they wouldn't convince anyone else to vote with them. I'd say it's a fairly high probability they could recruit 1 more vote.
Not saying it's going to happen, I'm just saying the situation is different than last time this was an issue.
