These are all the teams Clemson is competing with. In all honesty, Clemson gets in over either Pitt or NC State. Because of NC State head to head 3 times, Clemson has advantage. Because of head to head and NET, Clemson also has advantage over Pitt.
Another important note, there are only 2 out of the 16 teams still playing (Penn St and Utah St). Those 2 teams are basically confirmed in at this point. But every other team has lost, and has lost by double digits excluding Nevada, but I disregard them at this point as well. All of the bubble teams have lost.
Pitt really needed a win vs Duke, and by losing so bad also, they are hurting worse than Clemson.
With NC State, Quadrant losses won’t matter when compared with Clemson. Clemson beat them 3 times badly.
So, the most complicated aspect of this selection process is the number of ACC teams. I imagine the committee will do everything possible to prevent Conference matchups, especially in the First 4.
All of the other bubble teams listed have less Q3/4 losses than Clemson, but PJ Hall’s injury seriously must be taken into account. If PJ was at his current health vs SC, we would have won that one. I don’t know about Loyola. Louisville was a plain whiff.
And lastly, our non-conference schedule. It’s actually not one of the worst, in fact it’s 104th. I could’ve sworn I’ve heard from others it was in the 300s. But as far as non-conference schedules go, it’s only a small portion of the season. Most of the season is Conference play, and we did very very well in conference. As well as beating Penn State.
