New Year's Day makes so much more sense. Why would they screw with that tradition?
I, personally, don't care and will cancel all plans so I can watch our game. But it still makes no sense.

It used to be before the Rose Bowl on NYD. I know that the UGA-ND game in the Sugar following the 1980 season was a daytime game. It bounced around to different nights during the BCS era. There is no great tradition of NY night to that game. I have accepted that the Rose Bowl isn't going to budge. So, I wish they would do the following:
- On years when the Rose Bowl/Sugar Bowls are semi-finals, have it just like last year.
- On other years, have one semifinal before the Rose Bowl and the other semifinal after the Rose Bowl.
- Let the other NY6 bowls pick the next best spots from New Year's Eve and grant them exclusive time slots.

I would rather stay home and watch football New Years Eve. I am making a prime rib and watching the Tigers. I am loving it. There are still games Saturday too. Rose Bowl, Fiesta, etc.

if the Rose always wants to be at 5pm, have the 1st playoff game at 1 and the 2nd at 8:30 right after the Rose. Works perfect.
