Here is what the ACC would look like if I was the commission

Nov 18, 2012, 4:45 PM

FSU would be playing Notre Dame in the ACC-CG:

Coastal:
Notre Dame 6-0 (11-0)
UNC 4-2 (7-4)
Miami 3-3 (6-5)
Wake 3-3 (5-6)
Pitt 2-4 (4-6)
BC 1-5 (2-9)
Navy 0-6 (5-6)

Atlantic:
FSU 7-1 (10-1)
Clemson 7-1 (10-1)
GT 5-3 (6-5)
Syracuse 4-4(6-5)
NCST 4-4 (6-5)
Duke 4-4 (6-5)
VT 4-4(5-6)
UVA 3-5 (4-7)
Maryland 3-5 (4-7)

Everyone except Navy and Notre Dame play cross divisional games.

Only divisional games count in the standings.

The ACC does not share TV revenue with Notre Dame or Navy. They maintain the rights to TV in their stadiums and we retain the rights in our stadiums.

Not even going into how you could bring in Notre Dame,

Nov 18, 2012, 4:49 PM

those divisions would be horrible.

ND would win the coastal every year because all the teams in your coastal suck pretty consistently. Whereas we would have to fight GT, VT, NCSU, and FSU every year for the Atlantic.

That is about as terrible a combination as you could put together.

I forgot to mention that the divisions rotate bi-yearly

This is just the first year. Notre Dame happened to have played all of the teams this year identified as "Coastal" on the post above.

I would fire you

uneven divisions, bringing in Navy (why bring in a doormat?), and only 6 conference games for one division? You would suck more than Swofford

Well first of your not the commission,or the commissioner.
Second off it would take someone higher than you,and I mean even higher than the Pope to make Notre Dame join the conference in football. Therefore FSU would not be playing Notre Dame.
Third. No way,no how will UNC and Duke agree to be in different divisions.
Fourth, why should Navy and Notre Dame be exempt from playing cross divisional games?
Fifth. Why shouldn't Navy have to share revenue. They are not Notre Dame.
Sixth. If only divisional games count in the standings why bother to play cross divisional games?
Our conference is so screwed up anyway thanks to Swoffie. He don't need any help.

You asked one question that was not well thought out...

Nov 18, 2012, 5:23 PM

You ask,
Why should we not make Navy share TV revenue?

Whenever two separate entities share revenue (or class assignments) there is generally a winner and a loser.

The winner is the entity with a better football "brand" (or grades in terms of class assignments).

The ACC would be better off to keep our billion dollar TV deal to ourselves (14 ways) and let Navy keep theirs.

Of course, it would be best if we could make Notre Dame share their revenue, but we know this will never happen. Their football "brand" is much higher than the average ACC football "brand". Who is an average ACC team? UVA?

You ask: If only divisional games count in the standings

Nov 18, 2012, 5:33 PM [ in reply to Re: Here is what the ACC would look like if I was the commission ]

why bother to play cross divisional games?

That is like asking why did we bother playing Auburn the last 3 years, or UGA next year. These games don't count in the standings.

The answer is that this is "show business". You play games to put on a show and generate money.

If Clemson always played teams like Furman, the "show business" side of Clemson Football would fall apart.
