Here are the possible reasons for positive test

Dec 27, 2018, 10:17 PM

The main thing that bothers me is that 3 players from same test day were positive for this drug. The possibilities:
1. The young men knowingly too drug.
2. The players unknowingly took of were exposed to drug.
3. The young men got a supposed clean urine specimen from same source that was not clean to cheat test.
4. The containers used for specimen A and split sample B were contaminated. The young men should haven given sealed plastic bags with 2 spemimen cups. The players are supposed to take cups out of bag in front of collector and take one in bathroom with him for urine sample. When he comes out the collector wiisplit sample into other container for B specimen. The collector will also check temp to assure within range to indicate the sample came from the player.
5. Chain of custody lost. When the collector splits the sample he puts top on each in front of player and puts tamper proof tape ove top so it can’t be opened without breaking seal. The split sample is usually kept by collector in freezer. The sample is the put in bag and sealed wit tamper proof seal. The bags are then put in refrigerator untlil lab courier picks up. If the courier leaves specimens unattended, then chain of custody is lost. The specimens could be tampered with if left unattended and switched.
6. The lab could contaminate specimens. An automated probe is used to obtain sample from cup for mass spectroscopy test. If the probe is not cleaned between tests, a previous specimen could contaminate next test(s). A nationally certified lab should be used the is tested with blind sample containing drugs being tested for to assure accurate results are obtained. Clean samples should also be sent. The number of false positives and false negatives should be tracked and certification pulled if unacceptable thresholds are met.

If ther are positives for a drug, the lab should indicate how many other positives for that drug that day and how close they were on the turntable form positive specimens.

7. If the first sample is positive, the split sample should be sent to different lab. This would help eliminate the chances of a false positive due to poor lab procedures.

What's there to get bothered about?

Occam's razor seems like #2 is the most likely. Even #1 or #2 are a whole lot easier to pull off than conspiracy 3-7

3-7 are not conspiracy theories.
