Is this true? I’ve been hearing rumors. Any truth to that?

Bennett, 25, spent about six years at Georgia and did not graduate, which is unheard of. College football fans are wondering how he maintained eligibility and did not graduate.8 hours ago

Don't forget he also spent a year in Junior College, so, that's 7 years without a degree. My son and I were talking about this last night - 12 hours a semester (normal requirement for full time student), 2 semesters per year and 7 years would give anyone enough credits to graduate even if some credits are not transferrable or lost due to change of major.

How did he meet academic requirements over 7 years unless all he took were 100 and 200 level classes?

You would think he would have a degree in SOMETHING

May 14, 2023, 9:27 PM

in seven years, even if it's just basic humanities or something. If he changed majors several times I can see not having a degree he was TRYING to get. But something!

Not graduating, yet maintaining passing grades is not that

hard. All you have to do is keep changing Majors. He might have 200 hours, but not enough credits to qualify for graduation in any particular curriculum. Just a guess.

He’s not gonna need it for his statewide Stetson Bennett Chevrolet Buick GMC dealerships.

Color me shocked. Greatest qb in UGA history!😉btw, he’s only 5’11” standing in his mother’s high heels. Speaking of clownishly short qbs, did anyone see the Panthers new middle school qb?

Academic standards with NCAA are a joke.

I saw kids who played Div 1 basketball for 4 years and were "academically eligible" all 4 years but were still several course short of an AA degree.

NCAA, and many schools, have this philosophy about academics:
1. You want a degree? Great. We'll give you that opportunity.
2. You don't care about a degree? You only want to stay eligible? Great. We'll take care of you. No problem.

I'm hearing echoes of certain classes from UNC

They were the most blatant about it.

But, if a school has the academic goal of "keep the kid eligible, don't worry about graduation" then it is fairly easy to do so. There are plenty of "elective courses" available so that keeping a 2.0 GPA is a snap.

Don't know if true or not. Asked a Uga fan who keeps up with all this crap. She said Stetson graduated 2 years ago and was just taking enough masters classes to stay eligible to play.

He didn't graduate

SEC players who have graduated wear a special patch on their uniform that looks like this:

Stetson has never worn that patch:
